Donald Trump claimed to be completely unaware of the growing controversy around conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer as he faced questions about why he had allowed a woman who said 9/11 was an inside job to travel with him for commemoration events this week.

Loomer has become a regular fixture at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and this week made racist comments about Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris.

But at a press conference at his Los Angeles golf club in front of the Pacific Ocean on Friday, Trump refused to criticize her.

‘I don’t control Laura,’ he said. ‘I can’t tell Laura what to do. She’s a supporter.’

Instead he called her a ‘free spirit’ and claimed to know nothing about a post in which his supporter said ‘the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center’ if Harris, the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants won the election.

Former President Donald Trump broke his silence about Laura Loomer at a press conference

Trump spoke to reporters for more than an hour, railing against debate moderators once again, slamming California’s political leaders and taking aim at Haitian migrants.

But he faced most questions about Loomer, a 31-year-old far right activist.

Her presence on Trump’s private jet has alarmed many of the former president’s allies who believe that she is hurting his chances of winning over new voters.

He shrugged off questions about why she rode on his plane this week to a 9/11 event in Pennsylvania, and the memorial to flight 93.

‘A lot of people do,’ he said. ‘It’s a very big plane.’

Instead he claimed ignorance about her history of controversial remarks. He promised to read up on her comments and issue a statement.

After the event at his golf club he is due to head to a fundraiser hosted by billionaire software developer Tom Siebel and his wife Stacey.

Tickets start at $3000 all the way up to $500,000 for a couple to on the host committee at the event in the Bay Area town of Woodside.

Trump is playing catchup with Harris who has had a fundraising bonanza since entering the race in late July.

She also traveled with him this week to the presidential debate in Philadelphia

The two are locked in a tight battle. The DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners election model gives the former president a 55 percent chance of victory, with less than two months to go.

Both candidates have hit the campaign trail since the debate in swing states, making the case that they had the best debate night.

Trump was in Arizona on Thursday, when he was unapologetic about coming across as angry.

‘People said that I was angry at the debate, angry,’ he told a raucous crowd in Tucson.

‘I was angry, and yes, I am angry because she allowed 21 million illegal aliens invading our communities. Many of them are criminals.’

And he unveiled another populist economic measure, promising to abolish tax on overtime.

‘You know what that means? I think that gives people more of an incentive to work,’ he said.

‘It gives the companies a lot … it’s a lot easier to get the people.’

Critics will wonder how he plans to pay for it without adding to the nationall debt.

EWI-IN-COUNCIL ORDERS SUSPENSION OF SHARI’AH ARBITRATION PANEL IN ADO EKITI

The Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe, on Saturday, ordered the dissolution of the Sharia panel set up at the Central Mosque, Ado Ekiti in the interest of peaceful coexistence and law and order in the community.

Adejugbe spoke in Ado Ekiti during a meeting he held with the chiefs and indigenes of the community and the Chief Imam and President of the League of Imams and Alfas in the Southwest, Edo and Delta states, Sheik Jamiu Kewulere; and other Muslim leaders in Ado Ekiti over tension in some quarters over the sharia panel issue.

This came barely two days after the state government said that the existing legal structure in the state did not recognise the Sharia Court or Sharia Arbitration Panel.

The state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Dayo Apata, (SAN) had spoken in reaction to news reports stipulating the first public sitting of a Shari’ah Panel in the state which resolved two marriage disputes.

He had said that the legal structure in Ekiti State (i.e. Customary Court, Customary Court of Appeal and High Court) had been handling issues relating to Islamic, Christian and traditional marriages and inheritance without any rancour or agitation.

Adejugbe said, “Based on this Sharia issue, I summoned the Chief Imam and his lieutenants, members of the Ewi-in-Council, the president of Ado Progressives Union and Ado sons and daughters to discuss the matter because it is a sensitive issue.

“We all listened and it appears they set up a committee at the Central Mosque with the intention to listen to disputes. According to them, they have good intentions and it was an internal arrangement that has nothing to do with any external person or somebody influencing them.

“I told them the mood of the nation will not allow such to happen now, that they should revert to how the founding fathers of the mosque had been settling disputes in the past without setting up a committee.

“I told them that there is no need for the committee and they should dissolve the committee henceforth. That is the decision of the Ewi-in-Council and that is the position of all Ado sons and daughters.

“The panel stands dissolved. If we should allow such committees, the Christians too will want to set up committees in their various churches, the traditional worshippers too and before you know it, it will lead to crises.”

Speaking earlier, the Chief Imam, Kewulere, who confirmed setting up the committee, which he said had resolved a marriage dispute and adjourned on a second matter, dismissed all insinuations that it was set up for sinister motives.

Kewulere, who said that Muslims and adherents of other religions had been enjoying cordial relationships, said, “Basically, the committee is to look into matters of inheritance in the interest of our members.”

He dismissed insinuations that it was to create crisis and he dismissed any external influence or link.
