CAN directs Lord’s Chosen to get testimony before presentation

The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has directed the leadership of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries to review how its members share testimonies during gatherings.

This follows backlash over a viral testimony shared by one of its members, which the Christian body condemned as misleading.

The testimony involved an unnamed member who claimed that an old man appeared to her during an examination and provided answers to questions, which she then shared with a member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries also present in the exam hall.

Lagos CAN Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, criticized the testimony, labelling it “an utter fabrication” and confirmed that the church would be summoned for a meeting to address such testimonies.

Giving an update during an interview with PUNCH, Adegbite confirmed the meeting had taken place and that the church leadership had been instructed to change their approach to sharing testimonies in the future.

“We had the meeting last Friday at the CAN secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. Representatives of the church were there, and we told them to be careful and review the pattern of their testimonies. It is only a madman who would think otherwise,” Adegbite said.

He also noted that the meeting included the five bloc leaders of CAN and coordinators from all 57 local government areas in the state, with over 100 people in attendance.

“Everybody was on the same page. We reject vehemently any testimony that is not reasonable and sensible, which can be misleading and bring disrepute to the name of Christ. We reject it in its entirety.

“We told the leaders to ensure that they ask their members what they want to say before giving them the microphone. If what they want to say is not good for public consumption, it should be disallowed. God still performs miracles. We must say the truth and nothing but the truth,” the CAN chairman added.

Pastor Tobi Adegboyega Responds to Critics, Challenges Nigerian Clergymen on Ostentatious Lifestyle

UK-based clergyman Pastor Tobi Adegboyega has retaliated against Nigerian critics who have condemned his penchant for luxury items, urging greater scrutiny of affluent pastors in the country.

In a scathing statement, Adegboyega, renowned for his extravagant lifestyle, addressed the backlash over his designer attire and lavish automobiles. Drawing parallels with Nigerian pastors who own private jets, he questioned why the public overlooks their extravagant assets while targeting him.

“Nigerians should permit me to wear what I desire,” Adegboyega declared. “Their pastors own private jets. Why not scrutinize their possessions instead of mine?”

The outspoken pastor accused Nigerian pastors of concealing their wealth.

Adegboyega dismissed concerns about returning to Nigeria despite the criticisms. Highlighting his simplicity beneath the surface, he added, “I am not intimidated by the prospect of returning to Nigeria, as I can survive with minimal possessions.”

The pastor’s remarks have sparked widespread debate, reigniting discussions about the opulent lifestyles of religious leaders and their accountability to their congregations. Adegboyega, who leads the Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church (SPAC Nation) in London, has long been a polarizing figure for his flashy displays of wealth and unconventional approach to ministry.

Ekwutosblog has gathered that UK-based Nigerian pastor Tobi Adegboyega has defended his penchant for luxury fashion and lavish living, describing it as a deliberate strategy to connect with the younger generation.

In a recent interview with the BBC, the founder of SPAC Nation church explained that his choice of attire is meant to inspire rather than alienate.

“I put on what is right, what connects to the generation I’m speaking to, so they are not attracted to drug dealers,” Adegboyega said, addressing criticism of his flamboyant lifestyle.

The charismatic preacher, often seen wearing designer clothing and accessories, said his image aligns with his mission to engage young people and steer them away from destructive paths.

SPAC Nation, under his leadership, has been credited with helping to remove hundreds of knives from UK streets and tackling gun violence.

However, Adegboyega’s public persona has come under scrutiny amid allegations of financial impropriety and immigration violations.

Reports suggest he lost a legal battle to remain in the UK after overstaying his visitor’s visa, which he obtained upon arriving in the country in 2005.

Adegboyega attributed his failure to regularise his stay to an oversight.
