President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to participate in the 19th Heads of State and Government Summit of the G20, scheduled for November 18th and 19th.
The summit, hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will gather world leaders to address pressing global issues under the theme, “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.”
According to a statement by the presidency on Monday, President Tinubu was welcomed upon arrival by Ambassador Breno Costa from Brazil’s Ministry of External Relations.
He is accompanied by key ministers, including Yusuf Tuggar (Foreign Affairs), Idi Maiha (Livestock Development), Hannatu Musawa (Art, Tourism, Culture, and Creativity), and Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi (State Minister for Agriculture and Food Security).
On the sidelines of the summit, Tinubu is expected to hold bilateral meetings with other world leaders to further Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms, focusing on agriculture, energy, and infrastructure.
The G20 discussions will center on addressing global poverty, hunger, energy transitions, and sustainable development.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga emphasized that Nigeria will continue to advocate for the reform of global governance institutions, highlighting its bid for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
“Nigeria has consistently called for the reform of global governing institutions and presents strong credentials as a contender for a permanent UN Security Council seat,” Onanuga noted.

Wike not PDP’s problem – Dan Orbih reveals those behind party crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party National Vice Chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Orbih, has said members vying for presidential election without respect for the party’s constitution are the problem of the party.
Orbih insisted that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike is not the problem of PDP.
He disclosed this during the official handing over of the PDP secretariat he donated to the party on Wednesday in Benin, the Edo State Capital.
The PDP chieftain charged members to set aside their differences and work to reposition the party.
Orbih called on the acting National Chairman, Iliya Damagun to bring about the of repositioning the PDP.
He said: “PDP is a strong and formidable party, but it still has challenges that we cannot afford to ignore or sweep under the carpet.
“Wike is not the party’s problem. The real issue is those who want to run every time without following the party’s constitutional guidelines.
“We must put our differences aside and work with sincere party members to rebuild and reposition the PDP for future political battles ahead.
“People are mocking the PDP and asking where we are, but I tell you today, the PDP in Edo is fully back.”
