Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti has explained why Barcelona defeated his team 5-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday.

Kylian Mbappe had given the Los Blancos an early lead in the 5th minute in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

But Barcelona bounced back to swing the match in their favour.

Lamine Yamal scored the equaliser in the 22nd for Hansi Flick’s side before Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde all scored before half-time to give Barca a 4-1 lead.

Raphinha then added a fifth after the break as Barca goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny was sent off for a foul on Mbappé in the 56th minute.

Rodrygo pulled one back for the LaLiga champions as the match eventually ended 5-2 in favour of the Blaugrana.

Speaking to the media in the press room of the King Abdullah Sports City stadium after the Spanish Super Cup final, Ancelotti insisted that his team did not defend well against the Catalan club.

“We have to look at the reality and that is that we did not defend well in the opposition half or with the low block,” Ancelotti said.

“They scored goals very easily and we didn’t work well either collectively or individually because we lost a lot of duels.

“We are sad and disappointed and we’ll take that sadness home with us. That’s football.”

He’s so useless — Parker’ urges Man Utd to replace Onana

Former Manchester United player Paul Parker has urged his former club to replace goalkeeper André Onana with Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen in the summer transfer window.

Parker insisted that he does not like Onana’s mentality, adding that the Cameroonian is simply not good enough.

According to him, the 28-year-old is so ‘useless’ and does not seem to care when Manchester United concede a goal.

This comes after Manchester United’s FA Cup exit at the hands of Fulham on Sunday.

“I can’t help but think about why the club let David de Gea go,” Parker told the Danish news site SpilXperten.

“It was a really disgraceful way they parted with him after he was named Player of the Year three times in a row, and right now, it looks even more ridiculous because his replacement is so useless.

“Another thing I really don’t like about Onana is his mentality. It doesn’t seem to bother him when Manchester United concede a goal.

“You never see him standing there shouting or scolding his defence, like De Gea or Peter Schmeichel always did.

“He’s just not good enough, and I don’t think he even looks like a goalkeeper at all,” Parker added.

“Right now, I think [Altay] Bayindir should get a chance, but in the long run, the club should go for Mads Hermansen, who has single-handedly kept Leicester somewhat afloat this season.”

Onana was signed by Manchester United during former manager Erik ten Hag’s tenure as David de Gea’s replacement at Old Trafford.

Osimhen’s brilliance not enough for Galatasaray
Victor Osimhen continued his red-hot form for Galatasaray, scoring twice in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Kasimpaşa.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 11th minute, extending the league leaders’ 24-match unbeaten streak.

However, Kasimpaşa fought back to take the lead through Mortadha Ben Ouannes and Josip Brekalo. Galatasaray equalised through Davinson Sanchez before Osimhen restored their advantage with a close-range finish.

But Kasimpaşa struck late to deny the champions-elect a win, leaving Galatasaray only four points ahead of Fenerbahçe at the top of the Turkish Super Lig with 65 points.
