“Akpi Is Back”: Speed Darlington Finally Regains Freedom After 2-Months in Jail, Fans React Nosa Oke-Hortons
The Nigerian social media space has been buzzing after reports about controversial singer, Darlington Achakpo better known as Speed Darlington regaining his freedom went viral.
A post shared online by Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke has sparked a frenzy on social media. In the post shared by Akpi’s lawyer, the controversial personality was seen sitting in the office of his client along with two other men.
Recall that Akpi’s arrest was instigated by Grammy Award winner, Burna Boy, on the grounds of defamation and libel. In Burna Boy’s petition against Akpi, he accused the rapper of alleging he was gay and sharing a sexual relationship with American music mogul, Diddy.
The Grammy winner noted that the rapper used innuendos and play-on-words to target him and defame his character. After spending nearly two months in jail, Speed Darlington is finally free and below is an excerpt of the statement shared by his lawyer on his handle:
“Delighted to announce that our client, Mr Darlington Achakpo Aka Speed Darlington (Akpi) has regained his freedom after two months of illegal incarceration.
For the record, as his team of lawyers, we will be exploring every angle of the law to ensure that he gets justice for his fundamental human right which was deprived of him by the Nigerian Police Force and for the unfair/ unjust treatment he was subjected to.
Mr Achakpo extends his gratitude to everyone who threw in their support and Special thanks to my colleagues, Mr Marshal Abubakar Esq, Barr Deji Adeyanju, Barr Hamza Nuh, and Barr David. ~ Freedom cometh by struggle.”
Popular social media commentator and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju who also worked on Speed Darlington’s case also confirmed the rapper’s release on his Twitter handle, with a tweet that reads:
“Speed Darlington is out from Kuje prison.”

Renowned gospel artiste Mercy Chinwo has taken to social media to debunk rumors circulating online. The rumors claimed that users who create reels using her pictures or songs risk having their accounts suspended.
Ekwutosblog gathered that Chinwo reassured her fans that they are free to use her content for reels, and there is no risk of account suspension. This clarification comes amidst controversy surrounding a public disagreement between Chinwo’s team and her producer, Ezekiel.
In a statement she posted on her Facebook page recently , Chinwo vehemently denied the rumors, saying:

The pair, who hail from Lanzhou, China, transform molten sugar into stunning designs that feel more at home in an art gallery than a theme park.
Their work includes symbols of the Chinese zodiac including serpents for the Year of the Snake, alongside playful designs like butterflies, pandas, and even dinosaurs.
‘It’s very, very difficult,’ Yan revealed in an interview with SFGate. ‘You have to have a picture in your mind when you’re drawing it. There’s no way you can stop, rethinking the shape or anything.’

Each piece taking only takes a minute or so to create but after pouring their heart (or sugar) into each design the result is nothing short of spectacular – and almost too good to eat!
This year the festival runs from January 17 to February 16 when the sugar stand will be dissolved for another year – but these sugary wonders will be sure to leave behind nothing but sweet memories.
It’s a sticky business but the pièce de résistance of the stand’s offerings is an intricate dragon, available for $15 – a comparatively small price for a chance to hold and taste such a rare treasure.
Simpler designs, including hearts or butterflies, are on sale for $12.
‘It was such a pleasure to work with them last year,’ said Edgar Hernandez, whose nonprofit Working to Give operates the kiosk.
‘They’re like family to us at this point. We love working with them, and we’re glad they were able to come back again this year. She has such a high expectation for how they look, especially when a customer is super excited about seeing these creations
‘If there’s a little kid that says his year is Year of the Dog, she’ll go out of her way to make it,’ Hernandez said. ‘I think part of the reason why she loves being there is because she genuinely just enjoys making people’s days.’

‘In the old days, sugar art was pretty popular,’ Yan explained. ‘You could see the art on the street all the time. Right now, it’s pretty rare to see.’
