Delta police arrest father, second wife over death of three sisters

Delta State police command has arrested a man and his second wife over the death of three sisters in Delta State.

The three sisters of the same parents have reportedly died while on a visit to their father’s residence at the Delta Steel Company, DSC, Township, Oruhworun, Udu local government area of Delta state.

Reports said that the sisters live apart from their father who remarried after the death of their mother but occasionally pay visits from time to time.

“The incident has sent shock-waves through the community, especially as it comes less than a year after the death of their biological mother.

“Their father remarried shortly after their mother passed on, with the stepmother reportedly being a close friend of the late woman (their mother),” a source said.

Ekwutosblog learnt that the sisters allegedly returned from a birthday party the previous day to their father’s DSC residence only to be found foaming at the mouth the next day.

 

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident, saying, “We are treating this as a suspicious death and are exploring all angles.

“The public will be updated as we make progress.”

In a related development, two Tiv boys from Benue state have been arrested in connection with the alleged killing of yet-to-be-identified Engineer contracted to construct offices at Akwukwu-Igbo, the headquarters of Oshimili North local government area in Delta state

According to sources, the incident occurred in December 2024, but details only emerged recently after two suspects were arrested in connection with the crime, while the cause of the dastardly act remained unknown.

Community source revealed that “the suspects, identified as Tiv youths from Benue state, allegedly killed the Engineer and concealed his body in a shallow grave inside a farm.

Also, Edafe confirmed that the body has been exhumed.

“We are aware of the incident and our men are working to ensure others involved are apprehended,” he assured.

Owerri correctional facility dispels rumours of attack, jail break

The prison authorities of Imo State Correctional Centre have dispelled rumours of a jailbreak at the Correctional facilities alleged to have been caused by Funali Herdsmen on a mission to free their brothers.

A press statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Centre, Chief Superintendent of Corrections, CSC, Goodluck Uboegbulam, informed that the alleged invasion by armed Fulani herdsmen as reported in the social media is entirely false and misleading.

Uboegbulam urged the public and security personnel to disregard the viral post, which he described as fake and unfounded.

“I wish to bring to our notice a disturbing fake news making the rounds on the internet about an attack on Owerri custodial centre. I want to assure everyone that the facility is calm and under control. All officers are on red alert, and there is no cause for alarm.”the release stated.

He hinted that the false report had claimed that over 50 armed herdsmen had stormed the Centre, freeing more than 70 inmates.

Our correspondent reported that there is calm within the facility when visited as normal security checks is still in place.

It was also gathered that there is heavy security surveillance, with an army armoured tank and personnel stationed at the facility’s entrance, as has been the case since the April, 1 , 2021 attack during the EndSARS protests.

The Correctional Service spokesperson used the medium to urge the public to disregard the report and avoid spreading unverified news.

NBC bans media from broadcasting Eedris Abdulkareem’s new song, Seyi Tell Your Papa.

The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has banned media houses from playing Eedris Abdulkareem’s latest song.

The song, titled Tell Your Papa, is a criticism of this current administration. In it, Eedris directed Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, to speak to his father about the worsening state of the country.

In Tell Your Papa, Abdulkareem sings, “Seyi, tell your papa country hard. Tell your papa people dey die. Tell your papa this one don pass jagajaga.”

“Seyi, how far? I swear your papa no try. Too much empty promises. On behalf of Nigerians, take our message to him; kidnappers dey kill Nigerians.

“Seyi, try travel by road without your security make you feel the pains of fellow Nigerians. You dey fly private jets, insecurity no be your problem,” he continues singing.

The National Broadcasting Commission has now released a circular to media houses preventing them from playing the song.

2027: Some people will learn lessons by 12 noon on election day – Joe Igbokwe

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Joe Igbokwe, has declared that those nursing presidential ambitions to succeed President Bola Tinubu in 2027 will be taught a big lesson by 12 noon on election day.

He made this statement in a post on his official Facebook page while reacting to what he claimed was “fake news” being peddled by those aspiring for the top job.

He wrote, “It looks as if FAKE NEWS is what some people plan to use to win elections in 2027. Please encourage them to continue.

“By 12 noon on Election Day, some people will learn lessons they will never, ever forget in a hurry. Make we de play.”

Igbokwe, one of the party’s chieftains who campaigned vigorously for Tinubu in 2023, has consistently stated that the president will remain in power until 2031.

According to him, all the opposition figures strategizing for the 2027 elections are only wasting their time.
