‘Abel Damina no longer representative of Body of Christ’ – Christian group

Mr Damina denied the group’s claim that he said, “There is no heaven,” and advised the entire group to join his discipleship class to listen to his teachings.

A Christian group, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs, has berated a Nigerian cleric, Abel Damina for allegedly preaching gospel messages with an “alarming rate of theological errors and heresies.”

In an open letter to Mr Damina, dated 15 October, the group said Mr Damina’s messages constitute “hate speech and cybercrime against the Christian faith.”

“Dr. Abel Damina, you have crossed the line, and you are, therefore, no more a representative of Christianity (The Body of Christ) in Nigeria,” the group said in a letter signed by the secretary of its elders’ council, Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies.

Mrs Adesanya-Davies, a bishop and professor, said the letter serves as a disclaimer to the “heresy’s messages” spread by Mr Damina.

The letter was posted on Facebook.

“Heresy is a belief or opinion contrary to orthodox Christian doctrine and any belief, teaching or practice that explicitly undermines the gospel,’ she added, while citing several Bible passages to support their position.

Controversial message titles

The cleric highlighted some message titles allegedly preached by Mr Damina, which her organisation has issues with. The messages include “There is no heaven”, “You don’t need God to Succeed”, “Jesus is not coming back”, and “Heaven is scam.”

The cleric said that most of the topics are mere “fallacies and heretics,” laced with unsound arguments, targeted at attracting an audience to Mr Damina through “content creating hype rather than being correct and spiritual.”

Unlike the two main Christian groups – the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs is relatively new in the country, and it is not clear when it was founded.

Two clerics in Akwa Ibom State, Ifiok Essien and Emmanuel Udoatta, told PREMIUM TIMES they had never heard of the name before.

They are bunch of jokers seeking relevance, Damina fires back

Mr Damina, the founder of Power City International in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State is known for stirring controversy through his Christian teachings.

In a live Facebook video, responding to the allegations against him, Mr Damina said he had served as the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria National Youth President for eight years and that he had never heard of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs.

He said the group did not send him the letter directly, but someone drew his attention to it based on his response so that the public is not misled.

“I am not even aware of its existence. It is a situation of notice me by force,” he said, describing the group as a “bunch of jokers” seeking to be relevant.

Mr Damina said the entire group needed to join his discipleship class to listen to his teachings because their conclusions mean they have never listened to any of his teachings completely.

“They are looking at how to malign me. They said I am heretic; therefore, they have decided that I am no more a representative of the Body of Christ in Nigeria. What a laugh – what an effrontery – what audacity.”

Mr Damina refuted the group’s claim that he said “there is no heaven”, emphasising that he never said so.

“I have never said there’s no heaven. I only said the heaven the Bible teaches is not the heaven in the sky. The heaven the Bible teaches is the heaven of the immaterial. So, for this body to say I said there’s no heaven it means this body is a bunch of jokers.”

He also refuted the claim that he said “Jesus is not coming back” and offered explanations to what he said.

“I never said that Jesus is not coming back but I took time to explain the concept of Jesus’ coming back as an appearance. The Bible says He will appear. They who seek for the Lord, the Lord shall appear. We that are with him shall appear with Him in glory and I took time to explain the appearance of Christ which is what we called the rapture or the second coming of Christ,” Mr Damina said.

“They said that I also said you don’t need God to succeed. Yes, I said that but that is the conclusion of the argument and the explanation was that when it comes to material things and material wealth God doesn’t get involved in making people succeed.

“Because when you said it is God who made people materially rich and others materially poor, therefore, it means God is responsible for class in society and we never saw such teachings from Jesus nor did we see such teachings from the apostle.

“They also said that I said heaven is a scam. I never said that. What I said is that heaven at last is a scam. Again, they are quoting me out of context and saying what I never said. They are a bunch of unserious people,” he said.

Renowned Nigerian filmmaker and founder of Mount Zion film production, Mike Bamiloye, has made a startling assertion about the marital lives of numerous pastors.

In a recent post on his social media page, Bamiloye shed light on the challenges faced by some pastors in their marriages. He noted that many of them are merely tolerating their marital relationships rather than experiencing genuine joy and fulfillment.

Bamiloye attributed this phenomenon to the behavior of some pastors’ wives, who allegedly exploit their husbands’ ministerial positions to exert control and manipulate them.

POPULAR NIGERIAN PREACHER PASTOR ABEL DAMINA SHARES WHAT HE DESCRIBED AS STRATEGIES USED BY CLERICS TO SCAM CHRISTIANS IN AFRICA.

HEAR HIM:

“HOW TO SCAM CHRISTIANS IN AFRICA”

1) Organize a programme (Give it a fancy name like, Pharaoh, Let My People Go, No More Suffering, Miracle Night or Divine Settlement, reclaiming your destiny, open heaven rally).

2) Make sure it’s around the end of the month when salaries will be paid.

3) Look for trending gospel artists.

4) Negotiate a price with the gospel music artist.

5) Invite good motivational speakers and smooth talkers, most of them are false prophets. He/she must fly in from another city or country. You must innocently sit down during the service, and feign ignorance.

6) Make billboards and posters (it’s for publicity and marketing).

7) Now, the D day. It must be emphasized how the invited guest(s) left other business behind to fly all the way here. All because of the anointing of giving.

Now let the musician sing and stir the emotions of all present – make sure the musicians are famous and loved by people. (If I make you sensational, it’s now easy to scam you).

9) Now, if you can give #10000, stand by my right, #5000 or less come up the altar, #1000, stay to my left.

10) Work have started. At this time most are no longer thinking straight. Some for class will even pledge to give next month.

11) If you can give land, car etc. I will pray for you specially after service in the Pastor’s office. (Tell them the office doesn’t open unless if its special cases and special instruction from above)

12) Get the artist to sing again “Your house Na double double…. ” (sustain it because some of them were still conscious).

13) Show them how the widow gave her last mite and the widow of Zarephath too. (They will agree, because it’s in the bible)

14) Now hear the chief scammer “I know I said I won’t go beyond this amount, but the Lord just said to me, the anointing is for everyone here, so come with what you have, remove your bus fare, empty every money you have on this: Dr. Emediong Samuel).

GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE

PRESS RELEASE

Palm Sunday : Uzodimma: I have not breached my covenant with God concerning Imo

… Reiterates determination to put State on the path of prosperity

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma has reiterated his determination to continue working to recover Imo State from where he met it barely five years ago, and put it on the path of prosperity, insisting that he has not breached the covenant he has with God concerning Imo State.

He has also reiterated that when he is done working for the State in line with his pact with God, he will go home without the fear of anything hunting him for the service he sincerely rendered.

The Governor spoke while addressing the congregation at the end of a Pontifical High Mass to mark the celebration of the “Feast of Christ the King” at the Government House Chapel Owerri Imo State on Sunday.

He thanked the people for their support and solidarity following the Federal Government’s recent policies with their attendant consequences, and assured that that his government was doing a lot to put Imo State on the path of good life and prosperity for all.

He emphasised that he would not shy away from doing those things that will stand as legacy projects for which his administration will be remembered for by posterity.

Governor Uzodimma said he wants to be remembered that during his time Imo had daily and sustainable power supply, good roads, lasting infrastructure, and that he brought prosperity, quality education, health care and other good things to Imo State, and “not to be remembered for fighting with people over things that will not benefit Imo people.”

The Governor said he was thankful to God that in his conscience he has not violated or breached his covenant with God.

The covenant, he said, include “to create prosperity, recover the State, bring back dignity for which every Imo man was known for and will be known for.”

He recalled that only recently during the National Digital Skill-up programme at Abuja Imo State came first, noting that, “those are the things I want to be remembered and known for.”

He challenged anybody with evidence of what he has done wrong to bring it forward “because I will leave office a free man, sleep with my two eyes closed without being afraid of anybody, including the EFCC.”

Governor Uzodimma said his major concern has always been to leave positive marks in Imo and invited all to join him to recover the State and build it as a new Imo that will usher in prosperity and good life to Imo people.

Earlier in his homily, the Auxiliary Bishop of Orlu Catholic Diocese, Bishop Thomas Obiatuegwu, enjoined Christians to embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ who is the head of the Church.

While highlighting the significance of the Feast of Christ the King, emphasising Jesus Christ’s Kingship and His Spiritual reign over the world, the Bishop urged all faithful to love others the way Jesus Christ did while on earth.

The Mass was attended by the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Dr Chinyere Ekomaru and her husband, Chukwuma, the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe, Senator Patrick Ndubueze, House of Representatives Committee on TetFund led by the Chairman, Rt Hon Miriam Onuoha.
