-British Designer Liz Sanya Unveils Colossal Sandal in Bid for Guinness World Record
In an extraordinary feat, shoe designer Liz Sanya has showcased a gargantuan sandal, measuring 3.156 meters in width and 8.147 meters in length. This enormous pink clog was meticulously crafted in a mere 72 hours, from January 2 to January 4, 2025.
Sanya’s remarkable attempt to set a new Guinness World Record took place at Pixel Park in Lekki, Lagos, attracting an array of celebrities, including Pheelz, Mayorkun, Korty EO, and P.Prime.
The current record holders, a group of artisans from Municipio De Sahauyo, created a sandal measuring 7.45 meters long and 3.09 meters wide. Sanya’s design surpasses this record, solidifying her position as a trailblazer in the fashion world.
Reflecting on her remarkable achievement, Sanya expressed heartfelt gratitude to her supporters and emphasized her deep connection to Nigeria, where she was born and drew inspiration.

Police arrest suspected manhole thieves in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has arrested fifty suspects in connection with stolen manholes in the nation’s capital. The arrest was made after the team stormed the Kabusa Pantaker Market on Sunday, January 5th, 2025.
ACcording to the command, fifty suspects and twenty-five manhole covers, three vehicles, vandalized solar street lights, galvanized rods used in the construction of flyovers, other tools used in vandalizing these government installations, and several other exhibits were recovered from various panteka hotspots in Kabusa, Garki, Mabushi and Wuse.
‘’The command said investigations have revealed that these individuals operate as part of a larger network, selling stolen manhole covers to scrap dealers. ‘’This criminal activity endangers the lives of the general public by creating hazards on roads and walkways while undermining the integrity of public infrastructure’’ the command said
The command gave the names of the suspects arrested as Bashir Usman, Shaibu Ibrahim, Sani Isah, Ibrahim Hassan, Mustapha Hassan, Awal Nawan, Umar Aliyu, Auta Umar, Simon Clement, Datti Ibrahim, Mohammed Salim, Ibrahim Ibrahim, Ifeanyi-Chukwu Emmanuel, Abba Ismail, Najib Abdul, Muhammed Lawal, Rabiu Ibrahim, Adamu Suleiman, Abdulkarim Abdullahi and Haruna Nasiru.
Other suspects arrested are Abdul Nai’ja, Josua Steven, Livinus Steven, Ismail Abdullahi, Munir Sada, Ibrahim Yahaya, Yahaya Musa, Dahiru Nasiru, Abdullahi Muhammed, Monday Barnabas, Hamisu Iman, Promise Abanonum, Ehieze Emeka, Ehieze Justice, Mohammed Inusa, Tijanni Suleiman, Promise James, Haruna Auwalu, Ayuba Danjuma, Suleiman Abu, Nafiu Ahmmed, Kamalu Junaidu, Zaradeen Yakubu, Abdulhadi Adam, Mohammed Ibrahim, Chukwu Emmanuel, Douglas Yahaya, Mohammed Lawal, Auwal Musa and Abubakar Kabiru.

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, on Thursday, received the parents of his successor, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, at his residence in Okene.
The visit of the Governor’s parents, Alhaji Ahmed Sani and Hajia Habibat Ahmed Sani, further demonstrated the enduring bond between the two families and their continued commitment to the progress of Kogi State.
In his remarks while hosting the couple, former governor Bello expressed his gratitude for their steadfast prayers and unwavering support.
He commended their immense contribution to the upbringing and moral foundation of their children, which he noted had shaped Governor Ododo into a disciplined and compassionate leader.
Bello extolled Mr. and Mrs. Ahmed Sani for their exemplary parenting, emphasizing that their teachings and values were evident in the character and leadership of their son.
He noted that identifying Ododo as his successor was not by chance but a deliberate decision, adding that he had recognized him as a compassionate leader who prioritizes the well-being of the people.
He said he was confident Ododo would build on the achievements of his administration for the overall benefit of the state.
“Your son is a worthy successor. His compassion for the plight of our people and his commitment to the state’s development have stood out. I have no doubt that his tenure will strengthen the foundation we’ve built and propel Kogi State to greater heights,” the former governor said.
In response, Alhaji Ahmed Sani expressed profound gratitude to the former governor for the trust and confidence he placed in Governor Ododo, describing it as a rare and commendable gesture.
Alhaji Sani also acknowledged the legal and political battles Yahaya Bello had faced, referring to them as divine tests that all great leaders must endure.
He expressed the confidence that these challenges were stepping stones to greater opportunities and elevation in Bello’s political career.
The elated parents of Governor Ododo offered prayers for Yahaya Bello, asking for continued divine protection, guidance, and blessings in his future endeavours.
They emphasised their belief that Bello had yet to fulfill the full extent of his God-ordained destiny.
