…Imo APC Chairman sends mother’s day message to Catholic Mother’s in the State.

As we gather today in reverence and celebration of Mothers’ Day, I am deeply moved by the profound impact that mothers have on our lives, our families, and our society at large. As a devout Catholic and the State Chairman of the APC in Imo State, I am compelled to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of our mothers, who serve as the bedrock of morality, stability, and wisdom within our homes and communities.

Our mothers are not merely caregivers; they are the very essence of strength, compassion, and resilience. They serve as home stabilizers, guiding lights, and the voices of immeasurable wisdom in our lives. Today, I stand in solidarity with millions of Catholics across the world to express gratitude for the unwavering love and sacrifices of our mothers.

In light of the challenges facing our society, it is imperative that our mothers, seize this day as an opportunity for deep reflection and action. Let them ponder on the dwindling fate of moral virtues within our family units and society at large. As co-opinion moulders, it is their duty to instill in our children and wards the importance of respecting constituted authority, particularly in supporting the administration of Dist. Sen Hope Uzodimma, in it’s drive to make every youth in the state productive.

I urge all mothers to prioritize the inculcation of right family values into the hearts and minds of their children. By nurturing them with love, discipline, and respect, we empower them to become responsible citizens and productive members of the society.

On this special day, let us lift our hearts in prayer for our beloved mothers. May God continue to bless them abundantly and grant eternal repose to those who are no longer with us. May their families find solace in cherished memories and the enduring legacy of love they have left behind. And may we, as a community, have the fortitude to honor their legacy and strive for a better tomorrow.

Let us remember that a single day is not sufficient to fully honor the immeasurable contributions of our mothers. Let us cherish and celebrate them not only today but every day, recognizing their unparalleled role in shaping the fabric of our society. Happy Mothers’ Day to all the incredible Catholic mothers of Imo State!

Warm regards,

Hon. MacDonald Ebere, PhD,KSJI
State Chairman, APC, Imo State

Israeli security forces on Wednesday morning killed Muhammad Zakarna, a member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, during a counterterrorism operation near Jenin.

Zakarna was identified as one of the terrorists involved in the deadly shooting attack in the West Bank village of al-Funduq in January.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Zakarna, a resident of Qabatiya, was among three gunmen who opened fire on civilians in al-Funduq on January 6, killing Master Sgt. Elad Yaakov Winkelstein, an off-duty Israeli police officer, and civilians Rachel Cohen and Aliza Raiz.

The IDF said Zakarna was located in a cave near the village of Misilyah following intelligence provided by the Shin Bet security agency.

During the attempted arrest by Yamam, the Israel Police’s elite counterterrorism unit, and IDF troops, a gun battle broke out between the forces and the suspects.

The military said the forces used shoulder-launched missiles during the exchange. Zakarna and another Islamic Jihad member, Marooh Hazima, also from Qabatiya, were killed.

Hazima had previously been released from Israeli prison in the November 2023 ceasefire-hostage deal with Hamas and had since resumed terrorist activity, the IDF said.

A number of weapons and military gear were recovered from the scene. Several accomplices were also detained and found to be in possession of handguns.

The IDF confirmed that the other two terrorists behind the al-Funduq attack, Qutaiba al-Shalabi and Mohammed Nazal, both affiliated with Hamas — were previously killed in an Israeli operation in Qabatiya on January 23.
