Court Orders Suspension Of Sanusi II’s Re-instatement As Kano Emir

Justice Ahmad Liman of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano has issued an order suspending the implementation of the amended Kano Emirate law of 2024.
With the order of the court, the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano will be put on hold.
According to a suit filed by Alhaji Aminu Bappa Dan Agundi (Sarkin Dawaki Babba) against the Kano State government before the court, the Applicant prayed for an order to suspend the implementation of the new law made by the Kano State House of Assembly.
4 YEARS AFTER..Sanusi II Returns As Emir Of Kano
After listening to the Applicant, the court ordered that the implementation and the operation of the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Law, 2024 (1445 A.H) be suspended.
Justice Liman ordered that, “An order of Interim Injunction of this Honourable Court suspending not giving effect to, not implementing the Operation of the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Law 2024 (1445 A.H), as they affect all offices and institutions of all the Emirate Councils created under the provision of Kano State Emirate Council Law, 2019, (1441 A.H).
“An order of Interim Injunction of this Honourable Court restraining the 5th – 8th Respondents from enforcing, executing, implementing and operationalising the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Law 2024.
“In the alternative to relief 3 above, an Order of Interim Injunction of this Honourable court for the maintenance and preservation of the subject matter and or the preservation of the status quo by all parties to this suit, pending the hearing and determination of the plaintiff/applicant’s Originating motion before this Honourable Court as well as AN ORDER of accelerated hearing on this matter.”
It will be recalled that the Kano State House of Assembly repealed the State’s Emirate Council Law 2019 that created an additional four emirate councils in the state.
In the same vein, Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf, assented to the amended Bill, consequently dethroning Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and reinstating Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.

Drama as labourer accused of threatening to k!ll his boss, feigns madness, str!ps and runs out of Akure court

A dramatic scene unfolded at an Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State as a 23-year-old labourer, Ayomide Daniel, who was accused of threatening to k!ll his boss, feigned insanity and ran out of the court.

The suspect who was arraigned before Magistrate R.I. Adelakin, on Tuesday, March 12, 2025, suddenly put up a strange behaviour in court by refusing to alter any word and looking weird.

However, when the charges were about to be read to him, Daniel started shouting awkwardly, throwing the audience into confusion, thus altering proceedings.

The defendant, who was just dramatising, turned his back to the court and ran outside displaying full madness.

He removed his clothes and str!pped himself nak3d, as he began to eat dried leaves and nylons.

The suspect’s strange display caught the attention of people present at the court premises, though nobody could move closer to him, including his mother.

The suspect, whose address was not given, was charged to court by the police on a single charge of threat to life.

The prosecutor, Inspector Folashade Adeyemi, said on March 10, in Akure, the defendant threatened the life of one Alexandral Udokwu and attacked him with a broken bottle.

The offence contravenes Section 86 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.

Malami fires back at Obasanjo over corruption allegations on presidential pardons

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has accused the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari of enabling unprecedented levels of corruption, specifically criticizing the presidential pardons granted to ex-governors Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame, both convicted of embezzlement.

Obasanjo alleged that former Attorney General Abubakar Malami played a key role in these pardons, suggesting that the process was influenced by corruption.

In response, Malami dismissed these claims, stating that the pardon process is governed by a designated committee responsible for such decisions, and his role was limited to presenting the committee’s report to the Council of State.

Malami emphasized that allegations of corruption should be substantiated with specific evidence, criticizing the trend of baseless accusations against public officials.

The Federal Government also refuted Obasanjo’s criticisms, defending the Buhari administration’s record on anti-corruption efforts and infrastructure projects.
