The Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the trial of Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, to June 25, 2024.

Okechukwu, a celebrity bartender, faces three counts related to the alleged abuse of Naira notes.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Okechukwu on April 17, 2024, accusing him of spraying and tampering with Naira notes during a social event at Eko Hotel in Lagos.

Okechukwu pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail set at N10 million.

During a previous hearing on May 2, Okechukwu’s defense counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), informed the court that both parties were considering a settlement under Section 14(2) of the EFCC Act, with the possibility of a plea bargain.

The EFCC counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, confirmed this development.

Ojukwu requested a short adjournment to finalize the settlement discussions and withdrew a preliminary objection challenging the court’s jurisdiction, which the court then dismissed.
