Ogun state police command expresses concern over rise in missing person cases
The Ogun State Police Command says it has observed an unprecedented increase in reports of missing individuals across all age groups. A statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola , says that while only a small fraction of these individuals are located, a significant number regrettably do not return home.
Odutola said that as a proactive and community-oriented force, the command is committed to raising public awareness about this concerning trend and encouraging everyone to prioritize their safety by maintaining a heightened sense of security as a way to avoid becoming a victim.
She added that the state Commissioner of Police has outlined different measures as essential guidelines to keep the residents of Ogun State informed about the most pressing issues.
‘’In light of this, Commissioner CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, based on insights from rescued individuals, urges parents to refrain from using commercial transportation services for their children with unknown strangers.
Additionally, restless youth are encouraged to activate digital communication and sharing features on their mobile devices while traveling, especially during moments of distress.
It is crucial to inform the public that the control room can be contacted at 09164859299, and the Police Public Relations Department can be reached at 09159578888. The Command is also active on all social media platforms as follows:

Ekwutos BlogIntense rain is sweeping across eastern Australia, marking the end of a stifling heatwave as a powerful cold front moves through the region.
It comes after millions of Aussies sweltered through hot and dry weather, as large parts of the country’s east saw temperatures hit the 30s and even low 40s.
The most intense rainfall has hit eastern regions of NSW today, with the Illawarra expected to receive 40-50mm, Sydney likely to see 30-35mm, and northern parts of the state anticipated to get 20-30mm.
‘Sydney has the potential for rain every day through early next week,’ explained WeatherzoneSenior Meteorologist Brett Dutschke.
‘Parts of the city will experience rain over the weekend, with thunderstorms likely on most days, including Friday.’
South-east Queensland, including Brisbane, is also experiencing a prolonged period of wet weather, with rain and thunderstorms expected to continue until Friday.
‘The rain system is moving very slowly and will expand across a large area of the eastern seaboard. Over the weekend, it will spread into Victoria and Tasmania, affecting the east coast, nearby ranges, and adjacent interior regions.
Canberra, Hobart and Darwin will all see some rain during the next week and thunderstorms are also a risk in each of these cities at some stage.
WA’s Kimberley region is also forecast to receive heavy rain.
‘These areas will experience increasing humidity, instability, wet conditions and storms,’ Mr Dutschke said.
While temperatures in most of eastern Australia are expected to rise heading into the weekend and early next week, showers and thunderstorms will continue into next week.
