Rivers State Governor, Siminalaye Fubara, has urged calm following the Appeal Court’s ruling on the jurisdiction of Rivers State High Court to hear the matter on suit number PHC/1512/CS/2024.

Fubara expressed confidence that the development would not affect his commitment to good governance.

The governor spoke after inspecting the reconstruction work at the Zonal Hospital project in Bori Town, Khana Local Government Area.

He reassured the people of Rivers State that his administration would continue to provide critical infrastructure and quality healthcare facilities. ????

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo, has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court challenging the judgement of the Appeal Court.

Oko-Jumbo described the ruling as a miscarriage of justice and expressed belief that the Court of Appeal was in error.

The seats of Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule and 24 other former lawmakers remain vacant following their defection from the PDP to the APC.

The Assembly has called on INEC to conduct a bye-election to fill the vacant seats.
