Hon. Amb. Eleazar Ogbonna Onyewuchi Admonishes Sports Departmental Heads Of Imo Sports Commission On The Need To Revive Sports In Imo State.

In what can be say to be a survival measure, today 23rd January 2024 Imo State Sports Commission Chairman Hon Amb Sir Ogbonna Eleazar Onyewuchi held a strategic meeting with the heads of sports department in the State.

Ambassador Ogbonna frowned at the backwardness of sports activities in the State and seek for ways of resuscitating sports in Imo State.

 

One of the measures he took was meeting with the departmental heads of sports under Imo sports commission. The meeting was first of his kind, as such a strategic meeting has never been held before in the State.

The meeting had the presence of director of sports and was held at Dan Anyim national stadium Owerri the State capital.

 

Suggestions were proffered for immediate resurrection of Sports in the State, as Commission Chairman Hon Ogbonna directed the heads of the sports to submit reports on the reason for the failure of sports activities in the State, and proffer suggestions on how to do better moving forward.

Sir Eleazar a Professor in Sports stated, we can’t be here and allow sports collapses in our dear State. He equally informed them on his activities in making a better way for sports growth in Imo State.

 

He acquainted them about the Memorandum of Understanding Imo Sports Commission signed with Spanish sports commission which will enable the local coaches in Imo State to obtain training internationally and be certified as professional coaches.

He assured of having more of such meetings with other relevant bodies of sports in the State, so as to find ways of bringing sports activities alive in the State.

Sir Ogbonna also commented on the need for government owned secondary schools both universities and private schools in the State to have game masters like it used to be in the past in their various schools, and restore sports programmes in their schools.

Furthermore, he said same will be applicable to the local government councils in the State to form the habit of participating in sports activities

In his words; sports is one of the major tool that can be used to curb insecurity through engagement of youths in sports. It’s said, an idea soul is a devil’s workshop.

Ambassador Ogbonna used the opportunity to congratulate His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma the people’s Governor for his victory at the last election and for the successful swearing in programme held some days ago.

He said; No doubt that the State government, with support of all Imolites will surely give more attention to programmes geared towards revamping sports in the State.

He concluded with, there are still more stars abound in the State. Some of them have delved into several crimes, while some are being wasted and lavishing their lives in hard drugs addiction.

We can still restore back our lost glory in place of sports activities in Nigeria.

Police arrest ‘Boko Haram’s weapon instructor’, recover ammunition

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says its operatives have arrested Taimako Mato, a suspected weapon handling instructor for the Boko Haram terrorist group, and four others for alleged gunrunning.

The four other suspects are John Danladi, Mohammed Munkail, Manasseh William, and Muhammadu Haddi.
In a statement on Tuesday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the force spokesperson, said the suspects are members of a gunrunning syndicate operating in Bauchi and Plateau states.

FORCE REORGANIZATION: IGP ORDERS REDEPLOYMENT OF CPs RIVERS, DELTA, FCT.

Charging officers to curb insecurity, misconduct.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD., NPM., in an effort to strategically emplace a Police Force well efficient for effective policing, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Commissioners of Police of Rivers State Command, Delta State Command and the Federal Capital territory.

Ekwutosblog reports that the  order covers the redeployment of the CP Rivers State Command, CP Olatunji Disu as the new CP FCT; CP Delta State Command, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi as the new CP Rivers State Command and CP FCT, CP Peter Opara as the new CP Delta State.

In addition, following the approval of the Police Service Commission, the Inspector-General of Police has also deployed four (4) CPs as Commissioners of Police for Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom State Commands. The deployment includes the posting of CP Danladi Nda to Abia State Command; CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale to Lagos State Command; CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya, fdc to Ebonyi State Command and CP Festus Eribo to Akwa-Ibom State Command.

The posting of these strategic managers reflects the mission of the Inspector-General of Police to strategically reposition the Police Force and ensure maximum utilization of human resources available to the Force. The IGP has, however, urged the new CPs of State Commands to ensure diligence in the discharge of their lawful duties and adopt innovations that could mitigate security challenges in their respective areas of responsibilty. He further encouraged them to key into the police reform plans, which will help the progress of the Nigeria Police Force and the growth of the country in general.

EFCC Arrests 10 Suspected Internet Fraudster in Abuja

The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 arrested 10 suspected internet fraudsters in Abuja.
The suspects were arrested in a pre-dawn operation at the River Park Estate in Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Items recovered from them include a Range Rover, two Lexus cars, a Toyota Camry, laptop computers and iPhones.

They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
