Fabian Adibe a veteran Nollywood Actor has explained why he left Nollywood and how he completely got blind in 2019 including how his wife was sacked from Nollywood due to tribalism.

Speaking on some acts of wickedness he suffered at the hands of people in the movie industry during an interview 2 years ago has these to say;

Firstly, Speaking about how his wife got sacked from the movie business because of tribalism, Fabian Adibe said:

Acting in the Nollywood of old is much easier than what we have today. Then, we acted together irrespective of our state of origin or tribe. We all met in Enugu and easily got acting jobs. It’s not like that today. My wife was sacked in 1997 because she was a non-indigen in Enugu, despite being an Igbo woman from Abia state, married to an Imo state-born man. Back in our days, this wouldn’t have happened. Nigeria was one then

Second, Speaking about how he was abandoned by people who once profited off of him, Fabian Adibe said:

I have been out of work for 14 years, and then I told one of the Onitsha marketers that Adibe is now blind, and the marketer responded that he is not out to carry around a blind man. So I didn’t leave them because of this blindness, although the blindness started gradually. If I weren’t blind, I would still be doing the film, not for them, but for my first son, who is now an outstanding director in the industry. None of these people that are Onitsha traders that are in Nollywood, none of them have ever phoned me or asked where this man is. Some AGN friends call me even though they find visiting me difficult because they are in Lagos. But the ones that used to use me and that I made money for, none of them have ever called me or looked for me.

Speaking about how he lost his sight, Fabian Adibe said:

I lost my sight completely in 2019 through glaucoma. I was in my house in Enugu one day when something exploded in my eyes. ????

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Monday, April 14, presented Peter Obumuneme Okoye, as its first witness against Jude Chigozie Okoye, his elder brother and former Manager of Paul and Peter Okoye, aka PSquare, before Justice A. Owoeye of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.

At the resumption of the court proceedings on Monday, April 14, Peter while being led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, Aso Larry’s Peters, said

“The group, P-Square started sometime in 1997. But in 2017, it was disbanded. We stayed apart for about five years. But in November 2021, the group came back. Before Jude became our Manager, we had several managers, including Chioma Ugochi, who managed us when we were in the secondary school and in the University; and the late Bayo Odusami of Mbuntu music, who managed us for five years.

Thereafter, my twin brother and I managed the band for a couple of months before we decided that he (Jude) would manage us and Northside Entertainment Limited.

So, we continued running our business. But we were always having issues about how he was running the business. The issues were mainly about the fact that he was the sole signatory to all our bank accounts in Ecobank, Zenith and FCMB.

These issues lasted for a couple of months. I didn’t have access to the accounts until the current Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, who was our lawyer, said we needed a sharing formula.”

While giving further evidence, he recalled an incident when the brothers were building their houses in Ikoyi, saying

“The funding of the house project was by Northwest Entertainment Ltd. But they just stopped financing my house for six months. The accounts were owned by the company, while Jude was the only signatory to all the accounts. At some, I approached him and my twin brother, Paul, to know why they stopped financing my project. But what I heard from them was “As you leave P-square, u leave the money’.
