Legendary Nigerian singer, Onyeka Onwenu was born on January 17, 1952, in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria.

She attended the University of Ibadan, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations.

Onyeka Onwenu started her music career in the late 1970s. She is renowned for her soulful voice and her talent in fusing traditional African music with modern styles.

In 1984, Onyeka tied the knot with a Yoruba Muslim. Their marriage resulted in the birth of two sons, Tijani Ogunlende and Ibrahim Ogunlende, who later changed his name to Abraham.

Onyeka Onwenu also had a successful acting career in addition to her music endeavors, appearing in numerous Nigerian movies and television series.

Onyeka Onwenu received the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.

In addition to her success in entertainment, she is also a published author, with a memoir titled “My Father’s Daughter” to her credit.

Onyeka Onwenu continued to be a revered figure in Nigerian culture, recognized for her contributions to music, acting, advocacy, and leadership across different sectors of society.

Mexican Wrestling legend, Rey Misterio Sr. has d!ed at age 66.

The death of Mysterio Sr., whose real name is Miguel Ángel López Días, was announced by his son, El Hijo de Rey Misterio (Miguel Aarón López Hernández) on Facebook on Friday, December 20.

“Friends and family, I regret to inform you that my Father, Miguel Ángel López Días, Rey Misterio Sr., Passed away this morning…I will keep you informed. Thank you,” read the statement, originally posted in Spanish. A cause of death was not announced.

Mexican wrestling company Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide also issued a statement on social media to confirm the news.

“We mourn the sensitive passing of Miguel Ángel López Días, known as Rey Misterio Sr. We send our deepest condolences to your loved ones and lift our prayers to heaven for your eternal rest,” the statement, originally posted in Spanish, read.

Mysterio Sr. is the uncle of current WWE superstar Rey Misterio.

Misterio’s son, fellow WWE superstar Dominik Misterio, reacted to his death by sharing pictures of him on Instagram, writing in the caption, “🖤.”

His death comes nearly one month after the death of his brother (Misterio’s father), Roberto Gutierrez, at the age of 76 on Nov. 17.

Mysterio Sr. began his career as a boxer before making his in-ring debut as a wrestler in 1976.

Misterio Sr. won various titles throughout his run, including the Revolution Tag Team Championship, which he held with his son, the IWC World Middleweight Championship, and the WWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Championship, per Newsweek.

South African social media influencer Beandri Booysen, renowned for her inspiring posts on TikTok, has sadly departed on Wednesday, December 18, at the tender age of 19.

Her family shared the heartbreaking news on social media, highlighting Beandri’s courageous battle with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that accelerates aging in children.

In a poignant tribute, Beandri’s loved ones described her as a vibrant and infectious young woman who “radiated hope and joy” despite her health challenges. They praised her unique spirit, which inspired countless individuals worldwide.

As news of her passing spread, an outpouring of condolences flooded TikTok. According to medical experts, Progeria causes rapid aging, with symptoms emerging within the first two years of life. The average life expectancy for children with Progeria is approximately 15 years, although some may live longer or shorter lives.

While there is currently no cure for Progeria, ongoing research and novel treatments offer promise for managing symptoms and complications. Beandri’s family has requested privacy during this difficult time and will share details about a memorial service in due course.
