Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has revealed what he thinks is the reason some women remain unmarried in their 30s.

Speaking in a recent interview with News Central, Kanayo claimed that many women spend their early 20s dating wealthy, often married older men while rejecting younger suitors with genuine intentions.

“Some girl will be in the university at 18, 19, 20, she starts dating a very rich guy, sometimes, very old too. Then what you see along the line is that because the guy is very rich and probably married, she refuses the advances of other younger people because the guy has either gotten her a car and a house. So to her, she’s operating on a very high level,” he explained.

The actor elaborated on how this lifestyle often continues into a woman’s mid-20s, leading to a lack of long-term prospects by the time she reaches her late 20s and early 30s.

“From 22, she goes on to 24 and maybe even if she quarrels with this guy, she gets the next guy. And before you know it, she turns 25, 26 unmarried because she refuses the advances of younger prospective husbands. She gets into 29, 30, by that time she had left the university and men are no longer finding her that attractive.”

Kanayo painted a vivid picture of the growing urgency for marriage as women approach their mid-30s, often resorting to prayers for a life partner.

“At 23, she’s a flex. At 28, she becomes a prayer point. After 33, she’s declared a state of emergency. Because husbands will not come at that level of 33 years. Some of them get to 35 unmarried. And they still think that they are having fun. They are not having fun. They are now in a state of emergency praying that God brings anyone.”

‎The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on community security, Ken Emeakayi, has lamented the alleged infiltration of criminally – minded people into the state’s newly established Agunechemba security outfit.

‎Reacting to reports that some operatives of Agunechemba are now extorting people, using guns, Emeakayi said that every member of the outfit would be properly verified, to fish out the bad ones in the system.

‎He also warned about the improper conduct of some of the operatives who act as if they were above the law, adding that a situation whereby they extort people they are expected to protect, is unacceptable.

‎He said, “The reason the governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, established Agunechemba and Operation Udo ga achi, is to drive away criminals in the state. It is not for the operatives to start tormenting people they are expected to protect.

‎“We have found out that some of the people work as Agunechemba during the day and become kidnappers and armed robbers at night

‎“Some of the operatives claim that they have not been paid and that is because they have refused to present themselves for verification as required by law. They have been dodging from this verification exercise since January.

‎”Those who want to be paid should go for profiling to enable us know if they are actually members of Agunechemba and to ensure that they do not have questionable character.

‎“Very soon, anybody who claims to be a security operative in any community in Anambra State without subjecting himself to the profiling process, will be treated like a criminal because such a person has something to hide.

‎“The Anambra State Homeland Security law is very clear on the issue of knowing where every gun in the state is at any point in time and those keeping them.

‎We must know the full identity of everyone who claims to be a security operative in the state.

‎“We are, therefore, pleading that people should be alert and expose any shortcoming they discover on the part of the operatives.”
