… Unveils Commission’s 25th Anniversary Logo; 2025 Sports Festival Mascot

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has said that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has lived up to expectations after 25 years of existence, applauding the Commission for its creative thinking of engaging young boys and girls through sports development.

Governor Uzodimma gave the verdict during the unveiling ceremony of the 25th Anniversary Logo of NDDC and Mascot for the 2025 Sports Festival referred to as ‘Bros’, weekend, at the Landmark Event Centre, New Owerri.

However, he advised the NDDC board and management to remain focused on the set goals of the Commission as an interventionist body, targeting the things that will improve the standard of living of the communities under their supervision going forward.

He expressed optimism that the new Logo will spur the Board and Management of NDDC for more service delivery and unwavering commitment towards achieving greater success in the Niger Delta Region.

The Governor maintained that NDDC remains a treasure, as the establishment of the Act in 1999 restored hope and confidence to the populace of the oil rich region.

He thanked the Board for choosing Imo State for the unveiling ceremony which he said “signifies a new beginning that at last Imo is safe and has restored its pride of place as the hospitality destination of the country.”

In his goodwill message, the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Pastor Umoh Eno, represented by his Special Adviser, Apostle Samuel Ekon, expressed joy for being part of the historic event.

He commended Governor Uzodimma for playing host at the event and the visible infrastructural development he has recorded in Imo State.

Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, all of who commended the President BolaTinubu for delivering dividends of Democracy to the grassroot through NDDC. They pledged to always provide legislative support to the programmes of the Commission.

The Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Central Working Committee, Hon Boma Iyayi disclosed that the logo will be the official logo of NDDC for the year 2025, “while the
Sports Festival was religiously planned to bring together youths from the nine States of the State of the region.”

He expressed optimism that the Sports Festival will produce youths who will serve as sports giants that will represent the country in various sporting events, nationally and internationally.

Managing Director of the NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku in his remarks highlighted the Commission’s journey since inception 25 years ago and said that the Commission has been positioned now to serve the region better in the years to come.

He thanked President Tinubu for the support the NDDC has received from him since assuming office, noting that the quality of members of the Board and management are a testament to the President’s commitment to the development of the region.

Ogbuku said after 25 years, the NDDC has every reason to celebrate and that they will stop at nothing to showcase what had been achieved in the years past which should embolden them to do more.

Lady cries out after her brother was knocked down by keke on his way to early morning test at UniAbuja, faces possible leg amputation

A visibly distressed lady has cried out over a tragic accident involving her younger brother, a student of the University of Abuja.

According to her account, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when students were struggling to get to school for a test allegedly scheduled around 5 a.m.

She explained that while her brother and a coursemate were trying to cross the road in front of the University of Abuja, a commercial tricycle (keke), reportedly driving against traffic, knocked them down.

As of the time she shared the video, her brother was said to be unconscious and already being prepared for surgery. Doctors, she stated, described his condition as critical, adding that there was a possibility his leg might have to be amputated.

The lady further claimed that although the tricycle rider was arrested, there were moves to release him, and that the school authorities had not reached out or offered any form of support since the incident.

She also revealed that the hospital initially rejected her brother due to the seriousness of his condition before eventually admitting him, while medical bills continued to pile up beyond what she could afford.
