Following the annual death toll in Nollywood, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has called for national prayers.

The guild made the call following the death of two actors on a movie set in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Ekwutosblog reports that a popular filmmaker, Stanley Ontop had shared a video capturing four actors being rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital Owerri, with two confirmed dead on arrival.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred after consuming the drink given to them by the movie producer.

However, reacting to the incident, AGN president, Emeka Rollas in a post shared on his Instagram page, called for national prayers with pastor Jerry Eze.

While noting that the victims are not members of the AGN, Rollas stated that the “devil still wants this pattern of mass death repeated on annual basis” in Nollywood.

“Barely a week after the memorial service of the late Junior Pope our member, tragedy struck in Owerri involving two promising actors.

“They are not members of the AGN but this points to two things. The devil still wants this pattern of mass death repeated on an annual basis.

“If not for God the Owerri death toll could have been four persons. Exactly the same number last year in Asaba. Please let all actors and indeed Nollywood prepare for this year’s prayer outing with pastor Jerry Eze”.

Ekwutosblog recalls that this comes exactly a year after a famous actor, Junior Pope and three other crew members died during the production of “The Other Side of Life” movie in Asaba, Delta State.

Following the tragic incident, the AGN stated that it was impossible to sue the producer of the ill-fated film, Actress Adanma Luke, noting that Junior Pope was not a dues paying member.
