OUR PROJECTS HAVE SIGNIFICANT BEARING ON LIVES OF RIVERS PEOPLE – GOV. FUBARA

Condemns attack on his supporters in Ekpeye, flays social media politics

Bags Ekpeye traditional title

Rivers State Governor, Sir (Dr.) Siminalayi Fubara has declared that his administration will not engage in deceit, vindictiveness and frivolities but embark on projects that will have significant bearing and value on the lives of Rivers people.

The governor was also decorated with a chieftaincy title of Eze Eyawe Ugo of Ekpeye land (King of Peace and Eagle of Ekpeye land) by the Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Eze Sir Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo on behalf of the Ekpeye ethnic nationality.

Governor Fubara who spoke during the commissioning of the remodeled Government Girls Secondary School in Ahoada on Friday, December 6, 2024, said his administration places a high premium on education and will not politicize the promotion of excellence in the educational sector through the upgrading of critical infrastructures.

He explained that all the projects so far embarked on by his administration were not politically motivated but conceived to solve the essential needs of the people.

“I am overwhelmed with joy standing here this afternoon to celebrate a project that is not associated with vindictiveness. I use that word because this project was awarded before May 29, it wasn’t funded, the contractors are not even people that I know. But by the special grace of God because of the importance of education that we see as a key thing that we must follow, notwithstanding our problems.”

“On Wednesday this week we inaugurated a project, an 11.8 kilometer Okehi-Umuola-Eberi link road which connects Omuma and Etche and we made a very bold statement there to say that very soon we will be going to Omuma to also inaugurate another project.”

Governor Fubara flayed those who engage in social media hypes to undermine the truth noting that such culpable deceits will soon expire.

According to him, “We challenged them that the project that we are going to commission in Omuma is the first project that they are seeing. A few days later those people who felt the only way that they can survive is social media and to sell dogs. I wonder why you will go to school, your parents will spend money and the only profession you choose is to be a data boy and to sell dogs.”

“I stand here to say that even if there was a project commissioned at that time, it was a farm road that has no impact. The project we are commissioning has significance and that is what we should be talking about. It is not going to do one irrelevant project and you call people. We are talking about projects that will add value to the lives of the people.”

He said, “We will not celebrate things that will not make meaning, that is why we are here today to inaugurate this special school for people that are going to be mothers to this great nation. People that will be wives to great men and if you don’t produce a quality girl-child it means the nation is gone. So you can see and everybody can attest that we are strategic. It is not just doing, but doing what is right.”

Gov. Fubara further said key stakeholders in Ekpeye Kingdom, including the Eze Ekpeye Logbo, His Majesty, Eze Sir Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo, Chief of Staff to Rivers State Government, Rt Hon Edison Ehie, among others were persecuted for supporting his administration, but assured that their support will not be taken for granted.

“I understand the emotion that is being displayed here today. I feel for this great kingdom. When the Eze Ekpeye was talking, many of you may not understand what happened. Because of their support for me he was arrested, tried on trumped up charges and detained in Police custody for more than 4 months alongside Chief Cassidy.”

“This thing cannot last forever and I can assure you with all boldness today that they are gradually coming to an end. What we just need is to be patient. We have promised that our approach will be following this process with patience and the fear of God and we will get there.”

“So, Eze Ekpeye and other traditional rulers here who have suffered in the course of supporting us your request for recognition of other traditional stools will be granted.”

“I want to thank the good people of Ekpeye not just Ahoada East for giving us your support. You have shown publicly and openly your position in this government, we will support you with everything that we have got. We will make sure that your son who decided to follow us will be honoured.”

The governor appealed to the people to always remain peaceful and avoid anything that will give the enemies the opportunity to attack them pointing out that detractors are always looking for something to attack his supporters, “but please don’t give them the opportunity. We are entering into the festive period, enter it with all the amount of joy knowing well that our government has its mantra Peoples first.”

While accepting the Chieftancy title bestowed on him, Gov. Fubara assured that he will not disappoint The people, stressing “The meaning of the Chieftancy is Eagle. Eagle is a strong bird even in the face of frustration you can see that we are still flying and flying well. We will continue to make you happy and we will bring honour to you”

Describing the project, Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ovy Orliudeye Chinedum Chukwuma expressed delight and commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for completing the remodelled school and his investment in education for the benefit of the people.

He said the project was executed by three contractors and the school has 24 classrooms with common rooms and convenience. The school also has laboratories for Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture and Information Technology as well as a modern Assembly Hall.

The facility has two blocks of 2 bedroom flats for the two Principals, one for the Senior Secondary and the other for the Junior Secondary as well as for the Vice Principals of both sections. The remodelling includes modern sporting facilities.

On his part the Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Hon. Chibudom Ezu thanked Governor Siminalayi Fubara for remodeling of the Government Girls Secondary School, Ahoada and other numerous ongoing projects.

He appealed to the governor for the extension of the remaining one kilometer old Port Harcourt road and repackaging of the dilapidated bridge as part of the ongoing reconstruction of the road which also connects the remodelled School.

Hon. Ezu also pleaded for the reactivation of the Ahoada Industrial Park to create business opportunities and jobs for the teeming youths of the State.

Earlier, the traditional ruler of Ahoada, Eze Ekpeye Logbo, His Majesty, Eze Sir Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo while presenting kola nut and conferring the traditional title of Eze Eyawe Ugo of Ekpeye land (King of Peace and Eagle of Ekpeye land) on the governor declared the total support of the ethnic nationality on Gov. Tinubu Is Not Our Problem In North; We Ruled Nigeria For 40 Years But Nothing To Show – Ex-Speaker Yakubu Dogara

North Remains The Same, Impoverished Despite Ruling Nigeria For Over 40-Years, Says Dogara.

“We are all northerners, and it should be made clear that President Tinubu or the South is not our problem. They have not come to cheat the North. That is out of the question.

“Some are claiming that Yoruba people are getting appointments, but let’s reflect. We ruled this country for over 40-years when northerners were in power. What did we achieve? The North remains the same, impoverished by our own leaders.

“We have had so much, but what did our governors do with the resources? They squandered them instead of investing in meaningful development.” -Yakubu Dogara, At A Townhall Meeting In Kaduna On Tax Reforms

Vladimir Putin challenges US, western powers to shoot down powerful new Russian missile: “No chance”

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed a “high-technology duel” with the US to test the Oreshnik, Russia’s advanced hypersonic ballistic missile
  • The Oreshnik missile, capable of speeds up to 8,500 mph and carrying nuclear warheads, has already been deployed in Ukraine, targeting Dnipro
  • Putin challenged the US to select a target for a live demonstration, claiming Western missile defences would fail against Russia’s new weapon
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed the challenge, questioning Putin’s rationality

Didacus Malowa, a journalist at TUKO.co.ke, brings over three years of experience covering politics and current affairs in Kenya.

Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has issued a direct challenge to the United States.

Putin proposed a “high-technology duel” to test the effectiveness of Russia’s latest hypersonic ballistic missile, the Oreshnik.

The head of state made the proposition during his annual end-of-year press conference, a platform he often uses to assert Russia’s strength.

Military.com reports the Oreshnik missile, named after the Russian word for hazel tree, is an advanced intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads.

It reportedly reaches speeds up to 8,500 miles per hour, making it a formidable addition to Russia’s arsenal.

What is Putin’s challenge to US and allies

Putin’s challenge involves the US selecting a target to defend, against which Russia would launch the Oreshnik on Kyiv to demonstrate its ability to penetrate advanced missile defence systems.

“We’re ready for such an experiment,” expressing confidence that Western technology “stands no chance” against this new weapon.

In November, Russia deployed the Oreshnik against a military facility in Dnipro, Ukraine, marking its first known use in combat.

This action was framed as retaliation for Ukraine’s use of Western-supplied missiles, such as the US ATACMS and British Storm Shadow, in strikes against Russian territories.

How did Ukraine respond to Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to Putin’s challenge, questioning the rationality of such a proposal.

“Do you think he is a sane person?” Zelenskyy posed to reporters at his latest news conference as reported by Al Jazeera.

He went on to say that Ukraine and Russia had failed to strike an agreement during early-war discussions in Istanbul.

This comes after Putin stated that a tentative deal agreed by Russian and Ukrainian negotiators in Istanbul during the early weeks of the war may serve as the foundation for future conversations.

“Ukraine did not agree to the ultimatum from the Russian Federation. Ukraine did not sign anything, no agreements existed. There was a response to the ultimatum from the Russian Federation,” he declared.
