Josephine Ijeoma Otabor, known as Phyna, a contentious reality TV personality, has denounced the inclusion of Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant.

Adetshina, a model with Nigerian and Mozambican roots, had earlier withdrawn from the Miss South Africa 2024 contest due to intense scrutiny over her nationality, despite being a Top 11 finalist.

Adetshina declared her decision to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria in a video shared by the organizers on Wednesday.

Phyna voiced her concerns on X, suggesting that Adetshina’s participation could affect the chances of “typical Nigerian queens” who have been preparing for the competition.

The reality star recommended that Adetshina take a hiatus from pageantry, suggesting she should consider competing next year instead. Her comments triggered a backlash, with many criticizing her viewpoint.
