PRESS RELEASE IGP HAS NO BUSINESS WITH CIVIL MATTERS, AS POLICE WARNS MISCHIEF MAKERS DRAGGING IGP’S NAME INTO LAND MATTER.

The Nigeria Police Force has noted with amusement the recent allegations made against the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, in connection with a land dispute involving one Ms. Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu and the Yesufu family. We find it necessary to address these unfounded claims and provide clarity on the matter, more so that the claims painted the police as an irresponsible, meddlesome, and lawless agency.

It will be recalled that the AIT in their publication of 10th July, 2024, titled ‘Yesufu Family Seeks Justice As Police Authorities Fail to Investigate Bilikisu Ishaqu’, distorted the facts in the case in question and thus misled the public.

First and foremost, it is important to emphasize that the IGP shouldn’t be dragged into civil matters such as this land dispute. The NPF’s role is primarily to maintain law and order and ensure public safety. The police only intervene in disputes when there are clear criminal elements involved.

Similarly, the assertion that the police are at odds with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is unfounded, laughable, and without merit. The NPF maintains a cooperative and professional relationship with the EFCC, and there are no conflicts between the two agencies on this extant case or any other matter whatsoever. Any suggestion to the contrary is a blatant attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension between both agencies.

It is also vital to make it clear that if the parties involved in the dispute in question feel aggrieved and require the intervention of the IGP, there are proper channels to follow. Instead of resorting to media blackmail and attempting to malign the IGP’s reputation or ridiculing the Police institution, the concerned parties should make an official contact through the appropriate channels. The NPF is always open to addressing legitimate concerns and providing assistance where necessary, provided the correct procedures are followed.

The Nigeria Police therefore urges the public to disregard these unfounded claims in the media and continue to seek intervention from the police on issues capable of triggering crisis and violence, as the Force is committed to promoting peace, unity and progress in our dear country.

The Nigeria Police Force has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb electoral violence in Edo State with the arrest of two political thugs, namely: Edwin Obanor, 43-year-old and Audu Tajudeen, a 41-year-old PDP member from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko, Edo.

Acting on a tip-off that some individuals had been armed to cause mayhem and distability during the election on Saturday, the police operatives swooped into action and apprehended Obanor, a leader of an armed group, at Oredo Ward 4 at about 9pm and Audu Tajudeen at Igara Akoko, Edo, on the eve of the election. Upon searching the bags in their possession, three cut-to-size locally fabricated pistols were discovered on Obanor, while one locally made gun was recovered from Tajudeen.

These arrests are a testament to the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring a peaceful electoral process. The police and other supporting security agencies will not tolerate any form of violence or disorderliness during the election in Edo State.

The suspects are currently in custody and will face the full weight of the law. The Police reassures the public of its dedication to protecting lives and property and, therefore, urges citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via our published help lines.

Police Arrest Man Who Killed Friend After Obtaining Money From Him Under False Pretense.

Police operatives in Yobe State have arrested a 24-year-old businessman, identified as Yunus Isa, in connection with the d£@th of his friend and business partner, Lawan Adamu.

It was gathered that the suspect allegedly caused the d£@th of the deceased in an attempt to avoid repaying a N500,000 loan he had borrowed from him.

SaharaReporters reports that the deceased and Isa were traders, selling engine oil and other lubricants in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
He reportedly took the N500,000 credit facility on false pretence of starting a new outlet with an agreed profit sharing formula. But he later used the capital to marry a wife.
After repeated failure to remit the agreed percentage of the sharing formula, Lawan demanded a refund of his capital, consequent upon which Isa lured his victim to a solitary area of Shago Tara, and st@bbed him multiple times.

He committed the act on Sunday, September 15 and was arrested the following day, September 16.

The accused was said to have sent the complaints nude picture and video to his wife after an attempt to blackmail him into paying her N2 million failed

The police told the court that trouble started between the lovers after the accused told the complaint that she was pregnant.

The prosecutor, ASP Simeon Uche, told the court that the accused became angry after she discovered that the complaint had blocked her line, and that attempt to reach him on phone to discuss her pregnancy failed.

“My Lord, all this while the complaint never knew that his lover, who happens to be the accused, had nude videos of him. She took the video during one of their outings.
