VIRAL STREET FIGHT VIDEO OLD, OFFICERS DISMISSED – FPRO

The Nigeria Police Force is aware of a video circulating on social media platforms depicting a street fight involving two police officers. The two officers involved are were identified as F/NO. 491112 Cpl Ozimaede Aidonojie and F/NO. 516384 PC Salubi Stephen, both of whom served at the Ebele Divisional Police Headquarters in Edo State.

Upon thorough examination of the video in question, it has been confirmed that this regrettable incident occurred in the year 2020. The behavior displayed by the officers during this altercation, witnessed by members of the public who had to intervene to separate them, is completely unacceptable and unbecoming of officers entrusted with upholding law and order.

In response to this serious breach of professional ethics, both Cpl Ozimaede Aidonojie and PC Salubi Stephen have been dismissed from the Force. Their dismissal was officially communicated through a Police wireless signal with reference number CH 6450/EDS/PROV/VOL.3/188, dated April 24, 2020.

The Nigeria Police Force wishes to reiterate its condemnation of such act in the strongest terms, while assuring resolute commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity among its personnel.

Members of the public are encouraged to continue to partner with the Force, as partnership is key to promoting accountability and transparency in the Force, as well as enhancing a safe and secure environment for all.

Tragedy has struck the family of Akwa Ibom State’s Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, with the passing of her daughter, Blessing, just seven months after her wedding.

Blessing tied the knot with her husband, Olumuyiwa Adewumi, on June 22, 2024, but sadly lost her life due to complications during childbirth at a hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The news has sent shockwaves throughout the state, with government officials, politicians, and friends offering their condolences to the grieving family. This tragic event comes on the heels of another loss for the state, following the passing of Governor Umo Eno’s wife just a few months ago.

This is contrary to the initial allegations contained in an invitation letter sent to Sowore last week, claiming that the police were “investigating case of resisting and obstructing public officers, disobedience to lawful order, acts intended to cause grievous harm or prevent arrest, compelling action by intimidation, reckless & negligent acts, refusal to assist public servant and cyberstalking in which your name featured, prominently”.

 

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has filed cybercrime charges against human rights activist Omoyele Sowore for labelling him an ‘Illegal IG’.
