Sunday, October 13, 2024, was a night to remember for guests that attended the Mr World Nigeria pageant, which held at the Silverbird Galleria on Victoria Island, Lagos.

At the event which featured a rich display of entertainment and fashion, Michael-Mazi Michael, emerged as the winner, beating nine other finalists.

Reflecting on his victory, Michael, who is a nurse, expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude. He told Sunday Scoop, “Winning Mr World Nigeria 2024 is a dream come true. It is a validation of my hard work, dedication and perseverance.”

“I am humbled by the trust and confidence the judges and organisers have placed in me. I am eager to represent Nigeria on the global stage and make my country proud.”

Although it says wasn’t his first experience in pageantry, Michael emphasised how significant this particular competition was.

“It is not my first pageant, but it is certainly the most prestigious and challenging one I’ve participated in. I did not expect the level of intensity and competition Mr World Nigeria brought.”

Stating that the pageant’s return after a six-year hiatus was intentional, the Group Head of Digital Media for Silverbird Group, Olorunfemi Joshua, explained, “With the successful revival of the Mr World Nigeria pageant after a six-year hiatus, we are committed to making it an annual event, using this time to restructure, rebrand and refocus our efforts to ensure its lasting relevance and impact.”

Nigerian music sensation Oniyide Azeez, popularly known as Zinoleesky, has announced the arrival of his second child. The 25-year-old singer shared the joyful news on his Instagram page on April 3, posting adorable photos of himself cradling the newborn.

Zinoleesky, who rose to fame in 2017, expressed his delight with a heartfelt caption: “Owo Baba Zafar….” This new bundle of joy joins his first child, Zendaya, born in 2023.

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Genevieve Nnaji has fired back at online bullies who attempted to mock her age on social media. A troll on Twitter taunted her, saying, “You can’t defy the laws of nature” and sneered that her “youthful allure is finally waning.”

Nnaji responded to a troll with sarcasm, “It gets even worse; I’ll become so old that I’ll meet my maker. If I’m fortunate.” She acknowledged aging’s inevitability with humor, keeping the tone playful.

Another troll interjected, “Mummy, you’ve really aged,” to which Nnaji retorted, “Daddy, I wouldn’t wish that on you,” skillfully deflecting the jab.
