WOMEN WING OF URU IMPROVEMENT UNION HELD AUGUST MEETING

The women wing of Uru Improvement Union held her epoch general meeting at the ongoing hall construction building of the community.


Uru is a community in Ogwa in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State.

The meeting that witnessed the large turnout of the women who are married in Uru community, was chaired by the President General of the women Evangelist Kate Ohakam.


It comprises both home and abroad women of the community, where issues affecting Uru community and the women formed major part of the discussion at the meeting.

Evang Kate in her opening remark, welcomed the women from all parts of the states, and thanked God for the safety granted unto Uru women that graced the year 2024 August general meeting.


Special appearance at the meeting was the president general of Uru Improvement Union Barr Kenneth Emekowa who visited the women wing together with his executives.

Barr Kenneth eulogies the women for their commitment towards Uru community and admonishes them to never relent in making positive contributions and suggestions needed to move the community forward.

He called for their assistance and continuous support for the betterment of Uru community.

President General charged Uru women to build their homes, which will translate positively in Uru community and minimise negative attitudes of some of the youths of the community.


It was an interactive meeting with the women,as they interacted with the leadership of the community ably led by Barr Kenneth Emekowa with clarifications given by Barr Kenneth and some other of his exco members on areas the women seek for clarification.

Highlight of the meeting was a cash donation of N100,000 made to the women by diasporan base Lolo Ugoeze Chinyere Edith Obichukwu who based in United State of America.

The cash donation was announced by Comr Chidiebere Okoroegbe the public relation officer of Uru Improvement Union.


Before handing over the cash donation to the president general of Uru Improvement Union to present to the women, Comr Chidiebere reminded the women about Ugoeze Chinyere’s philanthropic nature and her numerous achievements in the community, which several lives have been touched through her benevolence.


He concluded by describing her as a blessing to Uru community, whose true love for the community is beyond measure.


The cash donation was presented by Barr Kenneth Emekowa to the women wing president general Evang Kate Ohakam.

In response, Evangelist Kate also recounted her good number of kindness and generosity to Uru community, more especially to the women wing of Uru Improvement Union.


She stated: if Uru women could get more of Ugoeze kind in the community, Uru would have been far beyond her present height. Evang Kate together with the women showered praises to her and prayed fervently for her family and evoked God’s blessings towards her and her family.


Evang Kate called on other women, especially those in diaspora to emulate Ugoeze Chinyere Edith Obichukwu’s good gesture in showing love and kindness to the women wing of Uru Improvement Union.

Evang Kate requested for approval from the central leadership of the union to form Diasporans Women Wing of Uru Improvement Union to have synergy with other women of Uru community who are based in overseas. She said, such synergy and cooperation will strengthen the women wing of Uru community.

Benue Insecurity: Ortom cancels his 64th birthday celebration

As Benue State continues to experience spiraling insecurity that have claimed several lives, former Governor of the state, Chief Samuel Ortom has cancelled any form of celebration for his 64th birthday in honor of victims of the horror.

Ortom, who turned 64 on Wednesday, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of goodwill and prayers from the people of Benue and other Nigerians.

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by his Media Aide, Terver Akase.

“In light of the ongoing intensified invasion, attacks, and senseless killings of innocent Benue people by Fulani terrorists across various local government areas, I have decided not to hold any celebrations or festivities. ‘

Chief Ortom said he has chosen to stand in solidarity with the victims and their families, acknowledging the deep pain and loss they have endured.

He extended his heartfelt sympathy to those affected and called on the people of Benue to continue to pray fervently for the victims.

Ortom also urged Nigerians to seek divine intervention to end the bloodshed and restore lasting peace and security in Benue and other troubled parts of the country.

He further called for prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, asking God to grant them wisdom and strength to tackle the nation’s security challenges.

“Remains grateful to God Almighty for his mercy, good health, and blessings over the past 64 years, and he reaffirms my commitment to the service of God and humanity in the years ahead.”

Katsina: Security forces stop bandits in Doma, recover eight motorcycles

Security forces successfully repelled a bandit attack on Doma community in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State early Tuesday morning, recovering eight motorcycles and neutralizing several of the attackers.

This was made known in a post shared Tuesday night on X (formerly Twitter) by security analyst Bakatsine, who frequently monitors and reports security developments across the Northwest.

According to Bakatsine, the swift response of officers from the Community Watch Corps (CWC) and members of the local vigilante group was crucial in foiling the attack.

“Bandits attempted to strike Doma community this morning, but CWC and vigilantes were on high alert. They stood their ground, killed several bandits, and recovered eight motorcycles. The rest fled into the bush,” Bakatsine wrote.
