“There was a time when those of us living abroad couldn’t even tell our friends that we’re from Nigeria. I’m talking reality and anybody who lived abroad 10 years ago will tell you the same thing. I remember when Africans used to lîe that they’re from Jamaica. But now, artist are changing the narrative and they’re now like “I’m going to the garden.” And when people ask them “For What?”, they’ll reply “I’m going to Davido’s concert, he’s an African artist.” At first, they couldn’t evęn let Africans rent the garden, but now with the whole culture and people appreciating it, it’s emotional. Right now, Africans are proud of who they are because we’re now selling our culture to the rest of the world.” Davido
