An 11-year-old schoolgirl from Texas has taken her life after bull!.es threatened to call U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to deport her family.

Jocelynn Rojo Carranza ended her life after enduring months of bul.lying from her sixth-grade classmates, who targeted her over her family’s immigration status—with some even threatening to report them to ICE.

Jocelynn’s classmates allegedly told her that once her family was deported, she would be left all alone in the U.S., according to media reports. There is no suggestion that the Carranza family were living in the U.S. illegally.

On February 3, Marbella Carranza, a single mother from Gainesville, received a call informing her that her 11-year-old daughter had attempted to take her own life at their home. She was taken to an intensive care unit in Dallas, where she fought for her life but tragically passed away on February 8, according to a GoFundMe page.

“I waited a whole week for a miracle that my daughter would be well, but unfortunately nothing could be done,” Marbella Carranza told Univision. “My daughter will always live for me, and I will always love her.”

Gainesville Intermediate School was aware that Jocelynn Rojo Carranza was facing relentless bul.lying, with classmates taunting her about being abandoned if her parents were deported.

The harassment became so severe that she met with a school counselor several times a week. However, her family was repeatedly not informed about the situation.

Marbella Carranza, who only learned of her daughter’s bul.lying after her passing, is now working with investigators and school officials to uncover what led to the situation and why her family was never informed.

The sixth-grader’s de@th comes as the Trump administration intensifies efforts to deport individuals living in the U.S. illegally.

On Tuesday, Feb. 18, the White House shared a video showing migrants in shackles being escorted onto a plane bound for an undisclosed location.

‎The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on community security, Ken Emeakayi, has lamented the alleged infiltration of criminally – minded people into the state’s newly established Agunechemba security outfit.

‎Reacting to reports that some operatives of Agunechemba are now extorting people, using guns, Emeakayi said that every member of the outfit would be properly verified, to fish out the bad ones in the system.

‎He also warned about the improper conduct of some of the operatives who act as if they were above the law, adding that a situation whereby they extort people they are expected to protect, is unacceptable.

‎He said, “The reason the governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, established Agunechemba and Operation Udo ga achi, is to drive away criminals in the state. It is not for the operatives to start tormenting people they are expected to protect.

‎“We have found out that some of the people work as Agunechemba during the day and become kidnappers and armed robbers at night

‎“Some of the operatives claim that they have not been paid and that is because they have refused to present themselves for verification as required by law. They have been dodging from this verification exercise since January.

‎”Those who want to be paid should go for profiling to enable us know if they are actually members of Agunechemba and to ensure that they do not have questionable character.

‎“Very soon, anybody who claims to be a security operative in any community in Anambra State without subjecting himself to the profiling process, will be treated like a criminal because such a person has something to hide.

‎“The Anambra State Homeland Security law is very clear on the issue of knowing where every gun in the state is at any point in time and those keeping them.

‎We must know the full identity of everyone who claims to be a security operative in the state.

‎“We are, therefore, pleading that people should be alert and expose any shortcoming they discover on the part of the operatives.”
