Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has assured that the grand plan by the enemies of his administration to arrest his supporters will not stand.

Governor Fubara stated this while briefing Government House Correspondents in Port Harcourt shortly after a Security Council meeting on Tuesday.

The governor noted that the meeting became necessary following disturbing reports from some local government areas where some individuals were planning invasion of the Council Secretariat following the expiration of the tenure of local government chairmen.

“We are aware that our enemies are planning a lot of things, but we will not fall into that plot where we will allow them to destroy the prevailing peace in the state.”

“I am also aware that there is a grand plan to arrest some of our supporters. This time around, they will have to pass through me to arrest them, because I don’t think that any of those people following us have done anything rather than stand on the side of the truth”

“If it will cost us our lives to stand on the part of truth, we will do that and I will be the one to lead this cause.”

He said the law has spoken concerning the tenure of the chairmen which necessitated his directive to the Heads of Local Government Administration in the local council areas to take charge until further directives, warning those plotting to destabilise the state to desist from such plan and give peace a chance.

“I assure everyone of you that whatever it takes to make sure that we maintain peace and order, we are not going back on that.”

Governor Fubara thanked the people for standing with him and gave tombs up to the media for supporting his administration all through as dependable allies on the watch for the government and objective reporting.
