Asari Dokubo, former militant leader and activist, has urged the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), highlighting the government’s inability to safeguard lives and properties in the southeast.
Dokubo criticized the government’s approach to security in the region, stating that retaining Kanu in detention amid ongoing violence and instability is unjust. He advocated for Kanu’s release as part of broader efforts to mitigate the unrest that has plagued the southeast, where communities are facing escalating attacks and insecurity.
Since his arrest in 2021, Nnamdi Kanu has remained in government custody, with growing calls from supporters and various groups in the region demanding his release.
Further developments regarding Kanu’s situation are expected as the call for action intensifies.
