President Joe Biden has lifted the ban on using American weapons to strike targets inside Russia, following the involvement of North Korean troops in the conflict.

This decision allows Ukrainian forces, under Volodymyr Zelensky, to use long-range ATACMS missiles, which have a range of 300 kilometers, to target locations in Russia’s Kursk region.

While the White House has not made an official announcement, the information has been reported by several U.S. media outlets, including The New York Times and The Washington Post and also by the press agencies Reuters and the Associated Press. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who has been advocating for this change for months, appears to have confirmed the news, stating that the real proof of this policy shift will be seen on the battlefield.

“Today, there’s a lot of talk in the media about us receiving permission for respective actions. But strikes are not carried out with words. Such things are not announced. Missiles will speak for themselves. They certainly will,” the Ukrainian leader said.

The announcement comes as Russia conducted a large-scale airstrike on Sunday, launching over 120 missiles and deploying 90 drones during the offensive.

The use of American weapons remains restricted to the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces are engaged in intense battles against Russian and North Korean troops.
