Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have formed a new regional alliance, the Confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES)!
After leaving ECOWAS in January, the three countries have taken a significant step towards promoting regional cooperation and security.
They accuse ECOWAS of being under French influence and failing to address the Sahel region’s deadly jihadist violence.
The AES aims to create a stronger, more independent region, and the three countries are seeking closer ties with Russia.
