The national executive councils of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended their nationwide strike over an alleged assault on the President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero.

The suspension of the strike was based on the trust the unions had in the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

However, the organized private sector and maritime operators have criticized the NLC and TUC over the industrial action.
