In Maiduguri, Borno State, confusion arose after police relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed due to violent protests.
The curfew was lifted from 12pm to 3pm for Juma’at prayers, but town criers continued to warn residents to stay indoors.
The curfew will resume from 3pm Friday until 6am Saturday. Major streets remain deserted and businesses closed.
