The Kaduna-born Samson Dauda (whose mother is from my village, Obibiezena) is the first Nigerian bodybuilder to win the belligerent competition and bag the highest price ($600,000) in the history of the sport.
His wife, Marlena, who also doubles as his coach, is the first female coach to win the grand prize.
The story of Samson Dauda indeed is a testament to the strength of an average Nigerian in the face of difficulties. It portrays our commitment to progress regardless of what may stand before us. This also shows how high Nigerians abroad are flying the flag of this great nation.
I pray God to continue to inspire and strengthen Samson Dauda to yet more feats in his career and in life.
