The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign former Abia State Governor, Senator Theodore Ahamefule Orji (TA Orji), alongside his son, Hon. Chinedum Orji, the immediate past Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly.

Sources within the EFCC disclosed that the duo will face charges relating to alleged misappropriation of Abia State public funds, abuse of office, and financial irregularities during TA Orji’s tenure as governor (2007–2015). The alleged offenses include the diversion of state funds and other financial crimes reportedly running in billions of Naira.

EFCC had earlier investigated TA Orji and son Chinedum Orji following petitions from concerned Abia citizens and anti-corruption groups, alleging large-scale corruption and the embezzlement of resources meant for the development of the State.

More details of the charges and the court where the arraignment will take place to be made public soon.
