Ikedi Ohakim, Ogbujingidi and Ogbughereuzo Umuobom is the right man to ascend the throne at the end of the tenure of the current governor .
The four feet of the table of equity were destroyed in the gaze of Ikedi Ohakim. There wouldn’t have been the locust years, reign of pestilence, drama , wasteful entertainment and Rochasism if some hawks didn’t gather against the flowing classic regime of Ohakim
Ikedi was stopped, not by God, but by men. Regrettably, his people were used against him. All sorts of stories, all shades of lies and mistruths were propelled to ensure that his great plans for the state were belly up.
Once he was shoved aside, Ndi Imo preferred Barabas, ” a notorious criminal”. Those who removed Ikedi Ohakim are the same people who determined his replacement. To make sure, there was no trace of any great deeds of the Okohia born politician, a destroyer was strategically placed in his place, making total annihilation and destruction possible.
Eight years after Ohakim were locust infested and rape-noted. The iberiberistic emperor on the throne who was driven crazy by his personal ideas, became the richest man in the state. An impetuous pilot he was, he literally put the state in reverse gear when he sold all he inherited from Ohakim and led the state into debt captivity
Imo state would have been spared the near-irreversible damning experience in the hands of the richest man had the graceful move to paradise was halted. Imo needed surgery immediately after the 8 locust years, but her managers perhaps didn’t take pains to engage a consultant surgeon.
Ikedi Ohakim was unjustly treated. Virtually all those what participated in the regrettable processes of his exit have come back in regrets. The truth that was buried on the fangles of rumour and falsity are no longer fashioned. The black mass of the Catholic Church, the lyrics of Fr Mbaka, the tales and brues have gone past. Our eyes are clear at the moment as our memories recollect the great thoughts and plans Ikedi Ohakim had for us.
All those who are working towards the realization of the Charter of Equity will easily get a melting ground in Ohakim. Ohakim is competent. He has been tested and has proved to possess what the state needs at the moment.
Ikedi Ohakim is from Okigwe, a zone that has more justifiable claim to a successor. The incumbent knows him too well and would be comfortable entrusting the affairs of the state on the shoulders of someone he could run mileages with. Imo state needs a thinker in the molds of Alex Oti and Charles Soludo. The brilliant and well read Ohakim represents the turns and sets of the needs of governance.
Ikedi Ohakim will spend only four years in the government house. This is what the promoters of equity from Owerri zone would want to hear. Owerri will be more comfortable with an arrangement that wouldn’t keep them outside circles of powers for too long. Ohakim appears to be the best bait.
Make no mistakes, Ohakim is not seen as a gap filler neither are those asking him to run for the position hinging their reasons on the fact that he has only one term to pontificate. Ikedi Ohakim is still young and relevant in Imo State. His brilliant ideas, robust programmes and courageous tackles are what the state needs at the moment.
