The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has identified poor education policies, widespread poverty, and lack of empowerment as major drivers of insecurity in the country.

At its 39th Annual National Conference in Ondo, National Amirah Hajia Rafiah Sani urged the Federal Government to change its security strategies.

FOMWAN also called for allocating 25% of the security budget to empowerment programs to reduce poverty and enhance national security.

The conference focused on women’s role in addressing insecurity and included discussions on the importance of education and poverty alleviation.
