Former Nigerian international Nwankwo Kanu turns 48 on Thursday, August 1, and his wife Amarachi has written a heartfelt message for him.

Kanu is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers to have come from Africa’s most populous nation, thanks to his remarkable achievements during his playing career.

The former Super Eagles midfielder won three league titles with Ajax and also secured the UEFA Champions League with the Dutch club.

Kanu also won two Premier League titles with the English club Arsenal and was a key member of the ‘Invincibles’ squad that remained unbeaten in the 2003-2004 season.

He married Amarachi on June 26, 2004, in a grand ceremony, and the couple has continued to strengthen their bond over the years.

They have three children together, and as the Nigerian legend celebrates his 48th birthday, Amarachi was quick to honor him. She posted: “Happy Birthday to the Legendary KING KANU.

@kingkanu4 The husband of my youth. May you live long. Wishing you good health and more positive energy.”
