2003: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)

2008: Superintendent of Police (SP)

2012: Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP)

2014: Assistant Commissioner of Police (CP)

2018: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)

2020: Commissioner of Police (CP)

Mar 2023: Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG)

Jun 2023: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG)

Note: Despite reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 and serving for over 35 years, the Inspector General of Police is still in office.

The officer poised to take over is Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Frank Mba, who hails from the Southeast.

It’s now clear why the President has chosen to extend the current IG’s tenure beyond the usual retirement age.
