Johnny Wactor, known for his role as Brando Corbin on “General Hospital,” was tragically shot and killed in downtown Los Angeles early Saturday morning.
According to his agent and CNN affiliate KABC, Wactor was attempting to intervene during a theft.
Wactor, who recently finished a shift at a downtown rooftop bar, was walking with a coworker when he encountered what he believed to be a towing operation.
His mother, Scarlett Wactor, explained to KABC that her son approached the scene, thinking his car was being towed.
Instead, one of the suspects, who was attempting to steal a catalytic converter, opened fire.
Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im reported that the incident occurred around 3:25 a.m. PT. Wactor was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Wactor’s career included roles in “General Hospital,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Siberia.” He portrayed Brando Corbin on “General Hospital” from 2020 to 2022, earning a dedicated fan base for his performance.
