Abdul Hakim Awal, a 23-year-old Ghanaian journalist, hugged a tree for 24 hours and 21 minutes to break the world record and raise awareness about reforestation.
He aimed to highlight the importance of trees and the need to preserve them. Awal’s effort is part of a larger movement in Ghana to set Guinness World Records and promote environmental causes.
His record-breaking hug lasted longer than the previous record of 16 hours, set by Ugandan environmental activist Faith Patricia Ariokot.
