The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has accused Honourable Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives, of soliciting money and filing numerous lawsuits—over 33 suits—against the 27 lawmakers led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Wike asserted that Ugochinyere is driven by personal gain and aims to benefit from the political turmoil in Rivers State. He alleged that Ugochinyere’s intention was to leverage the African Democratic Party to push for a new State House of Assembly election in Rivers State, but they were already aware of his plans before he arrived in Abuja.
In an interview with TVC, Wike criticized Ugochinyere’s public statements, accusing him of discussing legal matters he is unfamiliar with and meddling in Rivers State politics. He noted that Ugochinyere’s activities include collecting money and filing a multitude of charges against the lawmakers, which he claimed to be part of his ongoing strategy.
In his own words, he remarked, “I listen to this man called Ikenga Ugochinyere everyday on different TV station. He goes about everyday and he talks about a law that he doesn’t know anything about. Everyday he speaks about Rivers State politics and I said nobody should answer him because I know him and I know his modus operandi.
He came to Abuja here using African Democratic Party to sue that INEC should conduct another State House of Assembly election in Rivers State. And he thought we wouldn’t know but before he got there, we were already waiting for him.
He goes about collecting money and filing charges against the 27 lawmakers. He has filed over 33 suits and he has not stopped yet.”
