Owerri-based Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) outfit, Heartland FC, has announced the signing of nine new players to strengthen their squad for the second round of the 2024-25 season.

The new recruits include Anthony Omaka, a former player of Sunshine Stars and Enyimba, who joins from ASVO FC of Benin Republic, and Daniel Ekpo, a skilled winger who has moved from Abia Warriors.

Ekwutosblog gathered that other signings include John Bassey (Bayelsa United), Kenneth Ache (Heartland Feeders), Stephen Ezeamaiwe (Bendel Insurance), Isaac Nassy (Doma United), Samuel Agu (Akwa United), Terdoo Shimagande (Nasarawa United), and Joel Okoro (Nasarawa United).

Technical Manager, Emmanuel Amuneke, expressed confidence that the new players would make an immediate impact and improve the team’s performance in the second round.

“We have brought in players who will help us achieve our goals,” Amuneke said. “We have worked hard to ensure an improved performance in the second stanza, and we have no doubt that the second round will favor us.”

Heartland FC will begin their second-round campaign with a home match against Lobi Stars in Owerri on Sunday, seeking to build on their goalless draw in the reverse fixture played in Lafia last December.
