Husband, Wife Set Ablaze in Owerri West After Alleged Motorcycle Theft

In a dramatic turn of events in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, a husband and wife were brutally set ablaze by enraged members of the communities on September 2, 2024.

The couple was reportedly involved in a string of motorcycle thefts along Orogwe/Ohii Road in Owerri West LGA of Imo State, which prompted the community’s extreme response.

A viral video reviewed by ThePressman Newspaper captures the harrowing scene of the couple engulfed in flames, surrounded by a crowd of onlookers.

Eyewitnesses described the man as imposing and well-regarded, yet his involvement in motorcycle thefts tarnished his reputation.

According to witnesses, the couple operated a coordinated scheme where the woman would lure commercial motorcycle riders under the guise of needing a ride, while the man, armed with a pistol, would seize the motorcycles.

Frustrated by their criminal activities, the community took matters into their own hands, leading to the couple’s gruesome end.

As of now, the police have not been informed about the incident.
