I Still Visit Movie Locations Despite My Age, Says 101-Year-Old Actor Baba Agbako

Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, also known as Charles Olumo and Baba Agbako, is active in the film industry despite his advanced age.

In an interview with fellow actor Kunle Afod, the 101-year-old movie legend discussed his decades-long career.

When Afod questioned if Agbako still went to movies, he said yes. He claimed to be agile despite his age, and then got up from his chair to jog and jump in an attempt to prove it.

“I still go to movie locations, in fact, I still have a location I am going to,” he said.

Baba Agbako has become a household name, particularly in the Yoruba film industry, with a career spanning four decades.

Born on February 19, 1923 in Abeokuta, Ogun state, the cinema star previously worked as a mechanic and then as an amateur boxer before becoming an actor.

He began his acting career in 1953 at the Apostolic Church, Mushin, in Lagos state, and later began training play groups from other churches.

Agbako eventually joined Nollywood and is well-known for his action and terrifying character parts in Yoruba films.

He has appeared in numerous films, including ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Jagun’, ‘Amin Orun’, ‘Aiye’, ‘Jayesinmi’, ‘Soworo Ide’ and ‘Igbo Dudu’.

A malicious commenter sneered, “Upon makeup, you still look old”, Waje swiftly responded, delivering a sharp yet gracious rebuke. “Aging is a blessing”, she wrote. “Hopefully you’ll experience it in your lifetime. Merry Christmas child.”

Max takes the Box Office by storm, scores highest opening of 2024

After a two-year hiatus, Kichcha Sudeep made a powerful return to the big screen with his action thriller Max. Released on Christmas 2024, the film has opened to rave reviews and delivered the highest first-day box office collection for a Kannada film this year, surpassing Pushpa 2: The Rule, UI, and other notable releases.

According to Sacnilk, Max earned ₹8.50 crore on its opening day, exceeding expectations and securing its place as the top Sandalwood opener of 2024. The film benefitted from the Christmas holiday and maintained strong occupancy throughout the day, even with stiff competition from big-ticket films like Pushpa 2 and UI.

1. Max: ₹8.5 crore

7. Yuva: ₹2.1 crore

While Pushpa 2 continues to dominate Indian box offices with ₹7.48 crore in 20 days, Max has outshone it in the Kannada market with its exceptional first-day numbers.

However, a direct comparison may not be entirely fair as Max is a purely Kannada film, whereas Pushpa 2 is a Telugu film dubbed in multiple languages. Regardless, Kichcha Sudeep’s  Max has made an incredible start, reaffirming his star power and delighting fans with a cinematic treat worth the wait.
