If I make a call in Ilorin, why should my VAT go to Ikoyi simply because Airtel is headquartered there?
This is one of the many anomalies the Tax Reform Bill will correct for fairness to all states at the detriment of Lagos which hosts most big corporate head offices in Nigeria and which ironically is the home of the president. An unfair and bigoted president would have manipulated it to favour his state more.
President Tinubu therefore, should be applauded by all people of good and godly conscience and not blackmailed by anyone or group of people either by those who will go to jumaat prayer today or church service on Sunday.
The Bill will be passed to Law and more reforms will follow just like the local government autonomy. You may like to check how he established LAWMA, LASTMA, KAI etc in Lagos or how he created, for development to spread to every corner of Lagos, LCDAs.
Tinubu will therefore not succumb to any blackmail in as much as he has no plan to run aground any region of this great country. In as much as his intentions are good, his team and his supporters will never bow to agents of retrogression.
A leader that wants to succeed must know how to turn his back to distractions in the veil of election threats and blackmails to remain focused on the onerous task of fixing the nation for real economic development and sustainable growth.
