…the chronicles of Ighodalo’s abetment in deception are endless even as truth has turned scarce commodity with Obaseki.

Edo State has again witnessed a breach of trust that has left a bitter taste in the mouths of its retired civil servants. A retired civil servant in Edo State exposed the duplicitous actions of Governor Obaseki regarding the contributory pension scheme that was purportedly introduced to secure the future of workers.

Obaseki cunningly manoeuvred and coerced civil servants into accepting the scheme against their will. Now that the dust has settled, exceptions are being made to this scheme that was touted as the future security of pensioners. This reality is nothing short of a facade and veiled attempt to exploit the hardworking individuals who dedicated their lives to serving the state.

Asue Ighodalo’s involvement in orchestrating this anti-worker policy can not be ignored. He is complicit in this damage having been an active member of Obaseki’s economic team.

The implications of Obaseki’s betrayal and Ighodalo’s involvement are profound. Retired civil servants who should be enjoying the fruits of their labour in their twilight years are left in penury to grapple with the consequences of policies forced upon them by those they once trusted.

It has been demonstrated countless times that trust is a scarce commodity with Obaseki/Ighodalo. This is the time for Edo to rise against deception and build a new state of integrity with genuine concern for the welfare of all its citizens.
