…Youth Leaders Pledge Support for Governor Uzodimma’s Re-election Bid

In a resounding display of support and unity, the State Party Chairman of Imo APC, Hon. MacDonald Ebere, PhD, welcomed the leadership of the Imo State University (IMSU) Progressive Comrades to the State Party Secretariat earlier today.

 

Led by IMSU Student Union Government (SUG) President, Comrade Vinitus Chidera, and the group’s Chairman, Comrade Olaniyi Omidiji, Former SUG President, Oguike Arinze, the Progressive Comrades, representing several recognized student bodies within IMSU namely; Aladinma Student Alliance, Bishop Court Alliance, Okwu uratta Alliance, Front Gate Alliance, Orji Alliance, and Mbonu Ejike Alliance, expressed their unwavering commitment to Governor Hope Uzodimma’s re-election aspirations.

 

In his opening address, Comrade Vinitus Chidera conveyed the gratitude of the student leaders for the opportunity to meet with Hon. MacDonald Ebere. He praised the State Party Chairman for his long-standing support for youth affairs and emphasized that their visit aimed to inform him of the collective decision by all recognized student bodies to rally behind Governor Uzodimma.

 

Comrade Vinitus also highlighted the active campaign efforts already underway to mobilize students and residents to support the Governor’s second term bid, as he deposited with evidence that they have started on the campaign and mobilization drive for Governor Uzodimma. He announced the impending “Student Road Show” as a grand gesture of solidarity from IMSU students. The students expressed their appreciation for the stability in the institution since Governor Uzodimma’s tenure began and the reasonable tuition fees. Vinitus added, that since the emergence of Governor Uzodimma as the number one leader of Imo State, IMSU has not embarked on strike as an institution, and students of the school pay the lowest School fees of #31,500, arguably the lowest university school fees in the country. He used the opportunity offered by the meeting, to intimate the State Party Chairman of some of the challenges students face the school, with a view that Hon. Ebere will present them before the Governor.

 

Comrade Olaniyi Omidiji, Chairman of IMSU Progressive Comrades, pledged to dismantle any structures that might attempt to thwart the Governor’s re-election, as IMSU students are happy with Governor Uzodimma, and his 3R revolution in the State.

 

In his response, Hon. MacDonald Ebere commended the students for their dedication and vision in supporting Governor Uzodimma’s agenda. He highlighted the Governor’s commitment to education and the improved amenities provided to enhance the lives of students. Hon. Ebere expressed his determination to help secure Governor Uzodimma’s second term, through the additional input of students who appreciate the present Shared Prosperity administration.

 

As a one time President of IMSU postgraduate students, Hon. MacDonald emphasized the importance of political engagement for students and young people. He offered to present the students’ concerns to the Governor, assuring that the issues raised would be addressed. Additionally, he promised to contribute his resources to ensuring students feel valued in the present administration.

 

The State Party Chairman was joined in the Meeting by the Organizing Secretary of Imo APC, Hon. Ikechukwu Umeh, and Owerri Municipal APC Chairman, Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim, who charged the students to work for Owerri Municipal APC, since the two polling units in the school, falls within Aladinma II.

In conclusion, the student representatives thanked Hon. MacDonald Ebere for his enlightening remarks and affirmed their commitment to rejuvenate and educate over 30,000 students at Imo State University about the ongoing political processes. This visit marked a significant show of solidarity between the youth leaders and the APC Chairman as they united to support Governor Hope Uzodimma’s re-election bid.
