Government of Imo State have begun the demolition of structures within the right of way (ROW) from Egbu to Emekuku to establish standard width of the road,
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Ralph Nwosu disclosed this to newsmen who visited his office, stating that the road expansion exercise began last weekend and still ongoing.
Ralph Nwosu maintained that the expansion of the road became necessary due to the conscripted width of the road occasioned by the obstructing structures adding that it’s government desire to complete the road construction inline with Federal Ministry of Works standard.
The Works Commissioner expressed satisfaction that from the current 6meters dual carriage to 7.3 standard width carriage will avert consequences of gridlock being witnessed along the designated alignments.
The Commissioner further used the opportunity to call on the good people of Egbu and Emekuku communities to give necessary supports to the contractor in realization of the expansion task for timely completion of the project and more comfort to roadusers.
