Imo State Governor, Dist.Sen Hope Uzodimma, embarked on his re-election campaign tour, commencing with a grand rally in Owerri Federal Constituency (Owerri North, Owerri West and Owerri Municipal), where he received a warm welcome from enthusiastic supporters. The campaign event, held at Ndubuisi Kanu Square, marked the start of the Governor’s bid for a second four-year term.

State Party Chairman of Imo APC, Hon. MacDonald Ebere, PhD, led a cohort of political leaders from Owerri Federal Constituency to greet Governor Uzodimma and his entourage. In his opening speech, Chairman MacDonald Ebere effusively praised the Governor’s administration for the remarkable transformation of Owerri Capital city and its surroundings. Despite facing challenges during his first term, including the COVID-19 pandemic, security issues, and administrative hurdles, Governor Uzodimma delivered substantial accomplishments, particularly in addressing the issue of flooding in the state capital.

Chairman MacDonald Ebere also highlighted the significant rehabilitation and construction of roads, hospitals, and schools. He noted that many constituents had risen to prominent government positions and leadership roles within the party, showcasing the positive impact of Uzodimma’s leadership. Hon. MacDonald reassured the Governor of widespread support in the federal constituency and pledged substantial votes from both indigenes and non-indigenes, endorsing the Governor’s commitment to further enhancing the constituency’s development.

Governor Hope Uzodimma, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the All Progressives Congress leadership in Owerri Federal Constituency, as well as constituents and well-wishers for the honor bestowed upon him, looking at the large crowd that stormed the square. He recounted the state’s dire need for human and infrastructural rehabilitation, reconstruction, and recovery when he assumed office. Governor Uzodimma underscored that he had restored the state to its original master plan, emphasizing infrastructure projects such as the construction of Chukwuma Nwoha by MCC road, improvements to Toronto Road, and the reconstruction of Ekeonunwa Market, and many more.

Governor Uzodimma concluded by promising to do even more for Owerri Federal Constituency if re-elected.

The Governor’s campaign train later moved to Mbaitolu/Ikeduru Federal Constituency. During this visit, Governor Uzodimma addressed the pressing need to improve on some of the infrastructural revolutions in the constituency. Governor Uzodimma added that the reconstruction of the once dilapidated Ekemele road along Owerri-Okigwe and the vital Owerri-Orlu Road, are some of the signature projects executed by his administration, as more revolutionary projects will be sited in the area on his return to Douglas House.

Imo APC Chairman, Hon. MacDonald who also made a notable appearance during the Governor’s campaign in Mbaitolu/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, reiterated his call for constituents to vote overwhelmingly in support of Governor Uzodimma’s re-election bid, as he believes in Governor Uzodimma’s capacity to improve on what he has done for inhabitants of the areas. This further demonstrated the Chairman’s unwavering commitment to the Governor’s leadership and the positive change it has brought to the entire state.
